Being bothered by the fact I am not able to see which icons pop up in the background while I am in one of the navbar windows, I've decided to make this little mod, changing the position of the navbar and its windows.
This allows to have an eye on what is going on in the "background" and to realize some event has happened (e. g. scientist died) when it happens and not like 6 months later (if you are in the ship designer sometimes time is running fast).

Additionally I have changed the F5 shortcut. It now opens the Technology window instead of the Expansion Planner.. Having the F-shortcuts in here prevents achievements. Changed this into an extra mod (F5 is for Technology) to allow collecting achievements with this mod.

  • Tested for: 2.6.*
  • Compatibility: no problems found so far, might clash with other mods altering the GUI
  • Iron man: yes
  • Achievements: yes

I am writing these mods to enhance my own gameplay. I am mainly playing multiplayer matches against a friend of mine. The mods I am doing are mostly results of the discussions we have about the game during our gameplay. I am uploading these mods so my friend and I are able to share the same experience during the game. Feel free to download, but I won't guarantee I'll keep this alive during every iteration of the game.

Thx for the info. No, I haven't updated it for a long time. But interesting, that this "problem" still exists and people are still interested in this visual fix. Maybe one day, whenever I get back to Stellaris I will fix it, because it will definately annoy me.

Thanks for the great mod! I think it needs to be compared against vanilla again as I've noticed a few bugs: for example, I see 'Build queue desc' in the Planet view screen. I'll post what I have below in an effort to be as helpful as possible: I stopped when I got to government_view.gui as there seemed to be too many differences for me to helpfully post.

edicts_view.gui is missing clicksound = "select_click" on line 137
empire_view.gui has an extra clicksound = assign_leader_click on line 277
fleet_manager_view.gui has an extra alwaystransparent = yes on line 376
galaxy_view.gui is missing clicksound = select_click on lines 434, 454, 474, and 494. spriteType should equal "GFX_diplomacy_opinion" on line 529 instead of "GFX_their_opinion" and there's a missing scale = .85 on line 532. Position 's y on line 530 is equal to 47 in vanilla vs 45 in the mod, not sure if that's intentional. There's also a number of missing lines starting on line 594.
