Description
Mule is the step up from the Ranger and shines when ore is in high demand during base expansion.
Survival Ready, uses scripts and is Hydrogen powered.

Noting the not so stellar item capacity of the Ranger, the mule was built as an orehauler, it doubles as a component carrier. And with an easy refit, it can be converted to a Hydrogen tanker by removing top racks and replacing large cargo conts with hyd tanks. Large open flattop on the rear can act as a basis for a multitude of user desired refits.

Equipped with all the usual goodies from DAS and IIM, the Mule is straightforward and easy to use.
It also comes with emptying valve in the rear so you can park the vehicle on top of a collector and just let it purge the ore into your refinery or just hook to the connector and instantly empty it out.
Like every vehicle I make, it fits a 2x2 large block opening. making it fit simple hangars of just 2 airtight doors tall

Hope you enjoy :)

Just weld the mudguards last or something, you're an engineer, you can improvise if things don't immediately work out.

As is, this rover flips onto the connector when fully loaded. The script is partially to blame. I wonder if updates have made this unusable because you can't get wheels on it in survival.

The wheels can't be placed when projected in survival

I used it on both Earth and Alien world. I tried it on Mars and found it to perform near perfectly. I try not to test rovers on Mars because lets face it Mars was made for rovers.

If you widen your wheel base by 1 on each side, add 2 blocks in length to your wheel base both front and back, remove the cockpit steps then lift the cockpit up 1 block, your overall performance should improve when using the cargo cans. At the very least if you do bottom out raising the cockpit by 1 block keeps you from loosing it

All in all this is still one of the better rover builds I've seen on the workshop.

Well it is configured by the script so my adjustments are left as default/last tune by script. Curious what kind of terrain you used cause I've used this with full rock load from my regolith harvester and it's driven up rough martian cratersides with high inclinations. The script handles power/torque etc so it should adjust proper calues for weight/speed and such on the fly to minimize user hassle in readjusting those values. But ultimately you're right, it's a space truck... not an all terrain rock crawler.

I tested your rover and straight out of the box it is non operable with a full load on the 10x cargo setting. I decided to take a peek under the hood at your settings and you really need to improve your adjustments.

Edit: Went back an enabled scripts so your automatic transmission would work properly. Performed better but the script doesn't work very well on anything rougher than mild terrain.

Side Note: Its very top heavy when used as a cargo hauler but performs quite well as a hydrogen tanker.

Conclusion: Its a good rover design for a smooth ride. It will get you from A to B with little fuss. For best results use on worlds with flat or mild terrain. Avoid bumps and dips at all cost if possible. Cargo multiplier should not be above 5x if you want to use for hauling ore.

7/10 if used as a cargo transport.
8/10 if used as a hydrogen tanker.

Cheap and cheerful; it does what it says on the tin and just works.

Personally I would rotate the big storage containers so their big connectors are aligned forward to back, with the front container having its third big port facing up and the rear container having it faced down. This removes the big container ports from view and makes it easy to add a second connector to the top of the vehicle to support flying miners and (especially) welders and grinders.

The other part of the vehicle that I would change is the area below the o2 generator. This is mostly empty but more containers or an extra gyro could also be squirreled away there without too much effort.

In terms of the button bar, I would add the handbrake (I don't like 'P') and on a second bar I might add increase/decrease for wheel power, strength and maybe friction. To support this I would create a group for the wheels.

Keep up the good work.
