Motion Influence Turret

Description
Introduction

This mod adds a large grid turret that can manipulate the velocity of its target. It can be configured to push, pull, or simply reduce speed.


So... Is This A Tractor Beam?

Yes*. By default, this weapon will behave a lot like a tractor beam. However, it can also be much more than that - it can be used to slow targets to a crawl, push targets away, and more!


Controls

The terminal controls for this weapon are as follows:
  • Push / Pull - This feature allows the turret to push or pull a target.
  • Velocity Reduction - This feature allows the turret to reduce the current speed of a target.
  • Force Direction - This specifies whether the the turret should Push or Pull (requires `Push / Pull` to be enabled)
  • Target Center Of Mass - If enabled, the push / pull effect will be applied to the center of mass of a target (this reduces rotation being applied to the target when it is hit).
  • Reverse Direction Range - This allows you to specify a distance from the target where the push / pull direction is reversed.
  • Minimum Target Velocity - This allows you to specify the minimum speed the target is allowed to move if `Velocity Reduction` is enabled.
  • Power Multiplier - This slider lets you multiply the strength of the 'Push / Pull' and 'Velocity Reduction' effects. This will also affect the power the weapon consumes.
  • Range Multiplier - This slider lets you multiply the range of the turret beam. This will affect the power consumption of the weapon.


Weapon Stats

  • Constant Power Consumption - Yes
  • Default Range - 800m (2400m @ 300% Range Multiplier)
  • Push / Pull Power Consumption Default - 30MW
  • Velocity Reduction Power Consumption Default - 30MW
  • Effect Stacks From Multiple Turrets - Yes


Important Notes

This mod has not been tested in Multiplayer as of release. I've done what I can to ensure it functions properly (the majority of the laser script this uses is multiplayer safe), but please be sure to report any abnormal behavior. If you get game crashing as a result of using this mod (offline or multiplay), please provide the Full Game Log File with your report.

For other energy weapon modders curious about the custom controls used in this mod, they are not standard with the Custom Energy Weapon System script I maintain. I'd like to eventually add them to the system somehow, but it may take a lot of work to make that happen.

Has anyone been able to get this mod to function? even if i set to power consumption it still will not charge. I know awhile alot of mod weapons that charge with power broke and i assume the same thing that happened to them happened to this :/

Kubbi I think the energy setting is actually in \content\244850\1762774412\Data\Scripts\MKMIR_CustomEnergyWeapons in the config there it uses the scripts from there to pull into the configs for the actual motion influence turret... I just don't know where to look to change the power draw setting .. if you do know?

I've been reading through the Files since this one seems to be the only still functioning Tractor beam like mod, but i can't seem to find any line actually indicating the amount of power this turret draws form the Grid. I can see it uses the Automatic ammo generation script but the power draw there is set to 50, not that horendos giganting 600.000 MW. My guess its some costom made script in some other file and i have no clue which one. Notepad+ can open all, so if anyone can find it, please post the line in here.

How does it work? It applies Force towards/away from the turret itself? If so, can a ship possibly escape it with good engines?

Also, the power consumption is set to 600001MW, making it unable to charge.
