Ultranationalist AK-74 (for AK)

IzhMash AKS-74N made from spare weapon parts from CoD: Ghosts. A lower-caliber successor to the venerable AKM, slightly less (in)famous. The caliber was changed to reduce weight, recoil, and the 7.62x39mm M43 was deemed overpowered. Moments before the fall of the Soviet Union the AK-74 series have received plastic plum-colored furniture. Since the collapse of the USSR, Russia only produces the folding stock version with an optic mount in black furniture, designated AK-74M.


Now that the new Modern Warfare installment has been announced, and it's even darker and edgier, I haven't been so happy to hear anything CoD-related in a while. Time to celebrate it by un-mothballing one of my oldest WiPs. Also, my first CoD:Ghosts port... sort of. First of many, I suppose.

The Ukrainian Vepr assault rifle is a basic AK-74 rebuilt in a bullpup configuration. While it moves the charging handle forward (unlike, say, Groza), the rest of the controls are untouched. The model in CoD:Ghosts is even more blatant; it strangely looks like it was the MW3 AK (which still has the custom grip and magazine release) remade into a completely normal AK-74 at some point (as it retains the upper handguard piece the real Vepr lacks), and neither it has the wonkier iron sights (real Vepr front sight looks like a discount AR-15 sight), instead it looks more like RPK sights. It only took moving a few parts around and adding the folding stock from the game's Bizon (the plum grip is from the Kastet, however) and gas block from MW2 AK model. And here you go: the closest to a real AK the Ultranationalists would use in Modern Warfare series made entirely from Infinity Ward assets, as opposed to the earliest AK-47 Type I or something an American mall ninja would assemble with his airsoft kits.
