Playing the guardsman might just be the easiest step of this entire guide, as I have seen many players play just like one even before this guide has gone up. I hear you now, "this guide is useless then if everyone plays like a guardsman huh?" well not quite.

See most players are already great at running into enemy fire, but guardsmen have slightly more class then just a simple charge.

First please choose the rifleman class!
It is the best class and the only one that is an actual guardsman.
I mean, if it isn't the best class, then why can an entire team go rifleman?
The answer is shutup, and play rifleman, got it?

Second the weapon you want to pick is the M1GARAND
"Why?" I hear you asking.
The reason is because the garand is the best semi-auto weapon in the game, and if you disagree then you must be a complete idiot. Also, the imperial guardsmen use lasguns which are not full auto as you would believe. Now I understand that sometimes you can get some pretty idiotic teammates who don't know of the garand and its power. That is fine any weapon will do!

The main thing you need know when looking for a weapon is

DOES IT SINGLE FIRE

If it doesn't, make it!
Use the x key by default to make your weapon semi-auto!

Now garands are great and all but a guardsman can't hold back an enemy tide with just that, it requires a bit of....teamwork!
....or alot.

So be sure you have plenty of friends with guns backing you up in the trench or the xeno (commie) scum will overrun your ass real quick.

The final step is to always be prepared to say the safeword when the enemy comes charging into your trenchline...AFFIX BAYONETS!
when things get bad and your squad is ripped apart by an rpg blast, just start stabbin!

Congrats! You now know how to play guardsman in RS2!
Few know the power you now have, and most don't care, but you can go ahead and flex on any who actually "try" to win games.

Now you might be a certified guardsman, but you can't just go out there looking like a complete tool!

No, you need to look like a complete hard-ass who knows what combat looks like and how un-pretty it is.

Now you won't be able to look like an actual guardsman sadly, (unless tripwire adds the $4.99 Imperium of Man DLC) but that will never happen.

So the best you have is to make your soldier blend in with your comrades and have no funny hair or anything that makes you different.
Perfect example:
The most basic helmet you can have comes with buying the game! You don't even have to change anything!

That's really all there is! So simple, and anyone can do it.
Truly, the guardsman is the easiest class to play.

Now I know some of you probably have a hard on for commissars and don't like getting your fingers dirty cause your mommy didn't let you play outside, but its fine, I can show you how to commissar in my imperial guard guide out of pity.

Really, all you need is to play the SL or commander class and use the revolver only.

Be sure to scream into local chat constantly about the emprah and inspire the guardsman to fight even better!


If any guardsman think about running back to the last point or leaving the trenches where he belongs, be sure to put him 6 feet underground with your fancy gun.

Don't worry about the tk, everyone on the server will understand, as no one likes cowards

No imperial guard army is complete though without artillery!
So please, get someone to sacrifice their fun to play commander.
When playing commander don't forget to call arty right next to your troops position, if not directly on it.

If you want a good map just pick an lao, it is the best map for the guardsman class due to one single point.
