Gimbal Camera Stabilization & Heading Lock v1.1

Description
Updated 19-06-16 : v1.1
- Added Zoom "Smoother" to the Optionnal Controller. Will slow down the Camera Movements when Zooming.
From a suggestion by WH1T3_No1SE Thx !

Here is a Gimbal Camera Stabilization System with Heading Lock.
It's not a GPS Position lock, the Camera will only keep the Heading once you press a button.

Features

- Full 360+ Turn (Not locked)
- Tilt Stabilization with 2 Tilt Sensors
- Heading Lock : When Activated, Camera will keep its heading while the vehicle can move freely.
- You can continue to move the Camera manually while it's locked, the camera will automatically adjust the heading.
- Can be used with Top Mounted and Bottom Mounted Camera, there is an option to select the mount type on controller options tab.

Kit Description

Color Codes :

Yellow : What you NEED
Blue : Optionnal

You also need a Camera mounted on the vehicle and a Co-Pilot Seat to control the Camera.
OPTIONNAL : There is an Instrument Panel with 4 Arrows and a Microcontroller (Blue One) to also use these buttons to send to the main controller (Yellow One).

Controllers Options

Installation Details

Camera Mount

You can place the Camera on top of the vehicle or below, Choose the Mount type in the Controller Configuration

Here is how to place the Camera above :

Red Arrow point to the Front

And Camera below the Vehicle :

Red Arrow point to the Front

Compass and Tilt Sensors

Place them where you want.

-Compass : Blue Arrow to the Front

-Tilt Sensors : One to the Rear and One to the Left

Main Controller Connections

In Order :

- Compass : To the Compass you just placed on your vehicle

- Composite Input and Camera Heading Lock : You can use a Composite Connection from an Instrument Panel, Choose a Button, Set the Channel and Configure the Controller with this Channel in Options Tab And/Or you can also use the DATA Input to do the same thing. For example you can install an Instrument Panel on the Dashboard and use a Seat Key (in Toggle Mode) to the Data Input to toggle the Heading Lock feature.

- Cam Pitch / Pivot : To the Pitch and Pivot connections on the Gimbal Camera

- Roll and Pitch Tilt : Roll tilt from the Tilt Sensor with the Blue Arrow to the LEFT, and Pith Tilt to the one with Blue Arrow to the REAR

- A/D and W/S : From a/d and w/s Seat Connection. Seat MUST be configured to RESET mode for each w/s and a/d or your camera will continuously turn ;) And I recommend a Sensitivity of 25% minimum. More you have, less inertia you'll get.

OPTIONNAL Controller Connections

If you need optionnal Instrument Panel Buttons to control the Camera Orientation, I included an optionnal controller to convert Instrument Panel Composite Connection to the Main Controller. With this you can also connect a Seat to have both, Buttons and Seat controls.

- Gimbal Stab A/D and W/S : To the Main Controller A/D and W/S Inputs

- Seat A/D and W/S : From a Co-Pilot Seat, for example.

- Composite Input : From the Instrument Panel Output, Choose Buttons and Configure Channels in this Controller Option Tab.

- Added, not on picture : Zoom Amount : Connect the Lever Value (or anything else) used to Zoom the Camera. It will apply a slower movement to the Camera when zooming.

You can use, share this Stabilization and its Code on your own vehicle and post your vehicle or to make whatever you want as long as you credit me and link this page.

Do not reupload a same version without my authorization, Thanks.

I wanted to use this together with a cannon (water cannon). But the cannon can not rotate 360... But this is still a good product!

It could be a nice feature and I think I can add it to the Optionnal controller, the smallest one, do you use it on your vehicle ? I'll PM you when it's done.

Could you make that when camera is more zoomed the step of left, right,up,down movement is smaller? It's hard to control on high zoom
