GTF Hercules - Terran Heavy Assault Fighter (Vanilla Convertible) True Scale [Freespace 2]

Description
Fully vanilla. Survival ready. Thruster damage compatible.
Experimental mode and in-game scripts necessary for full functionality.

Introduction

Freespace 2 is a lifetime classic for me. Despite its age it didn't get old, especially with all the support from its modding community. I have probably completed the main campaign a dozen times. Its dramatic story, accompanied by a moody but diverse soundtrack, exotic spaceship design and an unmatched balance between the arcade and realistic gameplay solutions are the game's main selling points.

Terran spacecraft is the most diverse of the three races present in the game. The Hercules fighter stole the spotlight the moment it showed up in the intro to the second part of the series and looks more sexy than the Mark II. It's slow, heavily armored, and well armed. The auxiliary Hydrogen Engines and Large Reactors can supply the Defense Shields with tons of HP. I took a different approach on designing this ship and decided to over-greeble the crap out of it. You're welcome to get confused by its geometry.

Recommended mods
Cosmetic stuff mostly but the Shields mod really helps to set the tone of the Freespace games and save your hide at the same time.
  1. Defense Shields
  2. [VSI] Recolorable Thrusters

Hotbars

I have left plenty of space inside to install some small additional features you might like. The existing abilities have been appropriately named and assigned to their respective hotbars:

  1. Combat, cameras, Stealth Protocol ON
  2. Thrusters, power management, spotlights, antennae, Stealth Protocol OFF
  3. Repair Projectors, sensor, lighting, O2/H2 generator, parachutes

Special Thanks

Shout-out to the real heroes of the Workshop half of the Hercules wouldn't be possible to create without:

I'm not sure, In order to get it to work properly in MP I had to build the guts by hand and print the armor on, otherwise the hyrdo systems would do nothing

@Damocles Don't need to - it works perfectly fine without scripts as well... Unless it doesn't?

Could you possibly upload a version with no scripts?

@Rabid: Thanks, bro. Yes, I've played the both campaigns several times and I absolutely love them. A shame it takes them so long to release the act IV.
