Immersive Sound

Description
I've logged thousands of hours in Total War titles and after a while you get tired of the non-stop aural feedback.

Clicks, Cymbal Crash, Metal Clank, Bell Chimes, Collapsing Rubble, etc...

I find that the constant ruckus takes away from the battle sounds as well, which should be the loudest moments of any game.

So, I present to you two modified sound files which will simply remove all the clang and clatter from the game (campaign and battle) without removing diplomatic voice-acting and battle noise.

I also removed all the terrible, cheesy unit dialogue ("Oi Mate, you look like you need to sneeze. etc..") which utterly crushes immersion at times.

Installation:

1. Follow this link to download the two necessary files:

https://www.mediafire DOT com/folder/pj5hrvpa5xz0j/Immersive+Sound+-+ToB

2. Copy/Paste two files from your ToBII data folder to a safe place for backup. These files are sound.pack and local_en_shared_rome2.pack

3. Now place my version of sound.pack and local_en_shared_rome2.pack into the same folder, and you're all set.

Uninstallation:

1. To revert, simply drop your original files back into the ToB directory and overwrite the mod files.

I appreciate you trying to figure it out, I feel less like I'm going crazy now. I restarted my PC and tried again and its back to the instant CTD.

Note I was having this issue getting the game to run at all after a fresh install before I ever found your mod and eventually found advice to put ToB into comaptibility mode for Win 8.

I have Win 10 and have never had to do this for any game period, but it seemed to help ToB run with less CTDs.

Sounds like a great mod you made. I think its a ToB/Windows/Creative Assembly issue and I think I may just uninstall the game anyway, I never really enjoyed this one even though I love the setting. Cheers

I just had 3 failed launches, rearranged mod load order by switching two files, and then moved them back and it launched. Really no good explanation for that other than something CA has done with its launcher that is affecting load order outside of the mod manager.

It's working for me now in Shieldwall without any issues.

I'm getting some weird results too. No idea how the sound options are greyed out, have never had that feedback on all 3 versions. All I know is that my games (Rome, 3k, Attila, and ToB) have had weird launch issues for the past week after the updates to the launcher.

I got it to work by starting over, verifying steam files and then exporting your 3 files into the data folder and overwriting. Yet now I have no sound at all and when I go to options the sound button is grayed out.

It must not work with the Shieldwall mod and its 3 recommended mods or I'm cursed today.

It is strange as it is pretty straightforward really. FYI I'm not lost with modding and files, I've used PFM and ESF and have made mods since 2008, I don't know why it isn't working as it seems fine for others.

I even redownloaded your zip and started fresh. It shows the first load screen then it goes back to desktop.

If it's any consolation, I've experienced multiple launch issues on a few titles in the past week, I imagine this is because CA has modified the launcher to prepare for a new release. In a few cases I had to redownload mods and rearrange load orders.

Strange. I just recently redownloaded and replaced these 3 without issue. Place all 3 downloaded files into your ToB main folder. Overwrite the originals. These are not able to be activated as a traditional mod so mod manager is unnecessary.

This is for ToB.

I went to the TWcenter forums, says the same thing as a above.

I've tried placing all three in there first as I assumed that's what you meant up above, instant CTD.

Then I tried just using the two as mentioned in instructions, same result.

I'm only using the 4 mods that are recommended for the Shieldwall Overhaul and I've tried it with turning all those off.

I'm leaving load order as default. I wouldn't imagine that the Immersive Sound mod would need to be checked as these are data file changes, but it isn't mentioned anywhere in the instructions what to do with it in mod manager.

@Wolves, I copypasta'd the how-to I believe, in either Attila or ToB there are only those two files, in Rome there are 3. Copy all three into folder, backup originals, and replace.
