Definitive "General Protection Fault" Error Guide

So, you just bought the remaster, or got it for free for owning BL1, and wish to play the game, but upon pressing play on the Launcher, you get this nasty error? Well, try each of these steps although I don't recommend trying the last, for...reasons you'll see.

There was already an guide for this in the Original game, so maybe it could help you more than this one?

Basic Options to try
- You can go to your game's folder(You can access through Properties --> Local Files --> Browse Local Files), then go towards Binaries/Win64 and start BorderlandsGOTY.exe as admin.

- You can create a firewall exception, or even create a manual rule for BorderlandsGOTY.exe. For a more in depth guide on this....google.

-From the Guide above, and an answer from 2K's support:

1. Go to the following folder: \Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Borderlands\Binaries\
2. Once there, you would need to make a copy of the file called cudart.dll and rename this copy to physxcudart_20.dll
Last Resort - Not Recommended
Disclaimer: If you end up doing this method, and...it works, this either means that:
1. You are using a integrated GPU instead of your dedicated.
2. Your GPU does not support DX11

So do this at your own risk, because you will get some...very interesting things once you do this.

- Get dxcpl. You MAY probably already have it, you can try searching for it(if you are using Windows 10), but if you don't, you can download it here[www.microsoft.com].

- Once you get dxcpl and start it, you'll be greeted with an unfamiliar window[i.imgur.com]. Once you get your bearings, go to Edit List... and add BorderlandsGOTY.exe to it.

-Go back to the previous window, and set Feature level limit to 11_0, and make sure Force WARP is ticked.

-Start the game, and be greeted by glorious 3 FPS!

Yeah, if you probably were wishing to play this remaster, due to its improvements, think again, because they upgraded the game soo much that people who could previously run the game perfectly and flawlessly in 60 FPS can barely run it or even start it anymore.

I'm sorry for that, please discuss that with the developers who made the remaster.

Another solution: I had a general protection fault error with all kinds of files missing. The problem was on a laptop. Turns out the laptop was trying to use the wrong GPU by default. I went to Nvidia Control Panel > Manage 3D Settings > Program Settings tab (it may freeze for a bit while loading) > Under "1. Select the program to customize" select the game executable from the drop down menu. > Under "2. Select the prefered graphics processor for this program" select High Performance NVIDIA Processor > Click "Apply" at the bottom of the window.

I did the same thing for the launcher.exe for the game as well. The game starts fine for me now.
