New Game/Progression and more.
So you started a new game and you feel that maybe you have a hard time picking a good starter character? Well this might help you out! This section will give you some overview on how the games progression system works and how you can use it to your advantage.

Character Upgrades

Each playable class grants a permanent global stat bonus to all of your characters when you unlock new Titles. Each class grants their own unique stat and multiples of the same character title will not stack. New Titles may be obtained by defeating bosses for the first time, and completing the game on higher difficulty settings.

Spreadsheet:

Any further completions of higher difficulties will always grant the following increases to your title bonus:

Paladin: +5 Armor.
Ranger: + 5 Attack Power.
Sorcerer: + 0.5 Mana Regen.
Warlock: + 5 Resistance .
Thief: + 10% Gold Gain.
Priest: + 0.4 Health Regen.
Wizard: + 5 Skill Power.
Gladiator: +20% Primary attack Crit damage.

Guild Titles
Your guild is leveled up by completing guild achievements. Upon leveling up your guild level, you gain various amounts of gold, ore, and 3 permanent skill points (stars) to spend on upgrading your character's skills. These skill points will be available to even brand new level 1 characters and are cumulative. To achieve the final guild title requiring 2M fame, you would need to acquire almost every achievement in the game. Expect to spend countless hours and hundreds of runs to achieve it.

So what character do i start with?
I suggest starting out with Paladin/Warlock as their upgrades are extremly important. Next up consider Ranger/Wizard. After that you should go for Sorcerer/Gladiatior. Last but not least are the Thief and Priest. The reason why i put Thief and Priest so far behind is because you can manage the game really well without extra HP regen and gold gain. If you start to struggle with one character, try switch to another and gain more class upgrades to your guild hall. Keep doing this and eventually you will have enough upgrades to continue where you left your main class.

Notes: You will be very squishy when you are not using skills. Plan ahead and be careful before using up your mana! If you can team up with another player thats great and will be very helpful but otherwise take things really slow and steady.

Ng+0: No items needed from start.
Ng+1: Might be a good idea to shop for armor and resistance items.
Ng+2: Get armor and resistance items.
Ng+3 and up: Attuned Kings set/Markhams set.

At this point you want to get any item that boosts attack power, critical hit chance and damage, resistance, ignore armor effects, evasion and passive blocking attuned.

Notes: Mainly go for things with primary attack and critical hits chance/damage buffs. On later Ng's start game with attuned amulet of kings and armor of kings. If you are going with slumbering giant, get attuned bracers of quickness. Be extra cautious when you are not using your primary attack on higher Ng's. A few hits will kill you fast so be sure to fire it at all times when entering combat. Remember to pull enemies to corners and use Grasping Roots to hold them together for extra damage.
Wizard (Toasty-warm footsteps!) Ng+0-10 Build
Skills: Max out Fireball, Meteor Shower, Fire Breath, Combustion, Flame Shield, Scorched Earth and Blast Wave in this order. During earlier game you can put one point in Fire Breath and Combustion to speed things up. You eventually want to get Meteor Shower maxed out as soon as possible.

Path of the Magician: Increases damage of your skills by 20%.
Blessing of Mind: Increases your mana regen by 100%.
Symbol of Focus: Increases critical damage of skills by 100%.
Divine Hammer: Primary Attack throws a hammer in a forward direction dealing 25 Physical damage. Has a cooldown of 0.3 seconds.

Arena:
For each rank you complete in arena you will earn 5 tokens. Get to rank 10 and find balance between resistance/armor/skillpower.

Items:
Ng+0: No items needed from start.
Ng+1: Might be a good idea to shop for armor and resistance items.
Ng+2: Get armor and resistance items.
Ng+3 and up: Attuned Kings set/Markhams set (Markhams wand and scepter of kings is a good start).

At this point you want to get any item that boosts armor, resistance, skillpower, attack power, evasion and passive blocking attuned. Start with armor and resistance and try to go for kings/markhams set attuned.

Notes: Use EXTREME caution when using Meteor Shower! As your character can't move during the skillphase, you can die before you even react. Grab Frenetic Eruption and put yourself into combo state at all times. Scorched Earth skill will go extremly well with Evil Infusion and Frenetic Eruption as you can drain life and trigger combo from Scorched Earth. Remember to take it slow and steady and use walls to your advantage. Teaming up with another player will increase your chances of survival extremly much as this character class is hardcore mode in later NG's.

Priest (God's forgiveness is stronger than any sin!) Ng+0-10 Build

Skills: Max out Smite, Concecrated Ground, Aura of Purification, Holy Light, Divine Protection and Celestial Orbs in this order. No points in Remeby because the pickups give enough that you need anyway. Try to get Smite maxed out as soon as possible.

Church Blessings:
Path of Warrior: Increases damage of your primary attack by 20%.
Blessing of Might: Physical damage ignores 20% of the enemies armor.
Symbol of Essence: Gain 2.5% lifesteal on primary attack.
Divine Hammer: Primary Attack throws a hammer in a forward direction dealing 25 Physical damage. Has a cooldown of 0.3 seconds.

Stab In The Dark: 50% chance to score a Critical Hit on Primary Attack, Darkness effect for 1.5 seconds when using your Primary Attack.

Notes: Anything that boosts primary attack/crit chance/crit damage is good here. Heartseeker is a must have!

Thief (Good artists copy, great artists steal!) Ng+0-10 Build

Skills: Max out Twin Daggers, Sidestep, Slice and Dice, Grappling Hook, Vicious Cuts and Throwing Knives in this order. During earlier game you can get Sidestep as early as possible and put only 1 point in Grappling Hook to begin with.

At this point you want to get any item that boosts armor, resistance, skillpower, attack power, evasion and passive blocking attuned. Start with armor and resistance and try to go for kings/markhams set attuned.

Notes: On higher difficulties you should pick The Safe Bet instead of Crazy Eye, however a good player can go with Crazy Eye anyway. Try get Armor of Kings and Heartseeker and one resistance item like Robe of Arch Magi when going on ng+7 and up.

Ore And Gold Build

This one is pretty straightforward but i will include it anyway. This is the build i always run to farm Ore and Gold.

Drinks Common Ng+0:

On the Run: +0.4 Movement Speed, -25% Gold Gain.
Miner's Delight: +100% Ore Gain, -75% Gold Gain.
A Fool's Errand: +100% Gold Gain, HP regen set to 0.

Key Items:

Shaftlock Pickaxe: +50% ore gain.
Markhams Stone: +2% Ore Gain per item in your inventory.
Markhams Purse: +1% Gold Gain per item in your inventory.

Other items:

Mana Stone: 30% chance to gain 1 mana when killing an enemy.

Stones of Midas (Mana and Life Stone set): Killing an enemy gives 2 gold.
Lucky Charm: +1 Luck +10% Gold Gain.
Cloak of Many Pockets: +50% Gold Gain.

Notes: Having A Fool's Errand in your drink loadout will neutralize your gold gain to 100% with the other drinks included in this build. Reroll shop until you get atleast Shaftlock/Markhams stone and a gold gain item. Pick one ore gain item from anvil. Make sure you attune atleast the key items.

Experience Farm Build

Now that you have followed this guide you should be able to unlock Ng+10 in your town. Replace two or three of your starting items to these below and pick a Ng you can handle without dying to early. Do you have high level friends? Invite them to help you on higher Ng's for faster farming.

Items:
Book of Enlightenment: 20% increased experience gain.
Monster Pamphlet: Undead: 10% increased experience gain and damage dealt to undeads.
Monster Manual: Undead: 20% increased experience gain and damage to undead.

Drinks:
Lazy Stroll: +50% Experience Gain, -0.4 Movement Speed.

The rest of them? Pick any drink that will help the run go faster or for survivability.

Notes: Attune all these items for better effect.

Statues
There are a total of 8 Statues. The Sculptor is located in the desert town.

From left to right: Bolgarth, Calis, Cedric, Ewran, Kyra, Ozreth, Phalarath, Wylmir
In order to build and upgrade Statues, blueprints are required. These can be found in the Pyramids of Prophecy campaign. Any level blueprint can be found during a playthrough regardless of NG level, however, they must be found sequentially(must get lvl 3 before level 4), and the probability of finding blueprints higher than 3 levels above your NG becomes exceedingly low. There is also an ore cost for building and upgrading.

There is No max level for Statues.

Up to 3 can be placed in your town, the boons they provide will be received by any players in your town (If you're in a multiplayer game, you'll receive any Statue Buffs the host has placed). The effects provided are not limited to the desert campaign and will affect tower gameplay as well.

Statues can be used in any combination of 3, and swapping them out doesn't lose any levels invested into them.

Wondering for Warlock if the mana regen is really needed? I just reached NG+ and at the final boss was able to spam my skills. My second church is Intellect (Magical dmg ignores 20% of defenses) and I've been able to melt through mobs.

Maybe, for the Gold/Ore farm, the Public Holiday Fountain effect can be used as well? You're likely not gonna use shops anyways, and it gives a gold + exp boost, so it might be very useful.

Hello Nomible! I just found out about a good build for both sorcerer and gladiator, but the game released a new class and rebalanced the whole thing. Now, im not sure if most of the builds here will actually be viable for NG+10. Currenltly ive taken a break from HoH, but when the next expansion hits i will try finding time to update all of the classes for NG+10. The expansions is to be released end of this year! I did find a guide made by Ychegas and Bweeks. However, i believe this one was came out a week or so after the pyramids of prophecy release. Here it is:

Skill Order: lvl 1 everything -> strength in numbers 2 -> trident -> Planned attack = Pit Fighter -> Spinning Gladius -> Riposte = Crippling Net
Starting items: Lucky Hat and Heartseeker
Chapel: Path of Defender, Blessing of Intellect, Symbol of Essence, Divine Blast
Statues: Calis Bolgarth, Kyra
Drinks: Frenetic Eruption, Incendiary Demise, Wicked Sickness, and Crazy Eye
