World Situation:
It is the year 2023. A viral disease affecting the central nervous system and organisms’ appetite, scientifically known as H6Z6, has succeeded to infect the majority of the human population within a period of two years since its first appearance. With scientists being unable to find a cure or treatment and the aggressive infected, now known as Zombies, being a threat to human existence, the world’s armed forces and law enforcement agencies launched a worldwide operation to get rid of all infected. The mass destruction caused by the application of military force combined with the wide spread of H6Z6 has ultimately resulted in an apocalypse.

Personal Situation:
You are a citizen of the Mediterranean Republic of Maldonia who is currently hiding in a private underground bunker. On the 25th of April 2023, your cousin Matthew, who was a doctor working for a research team on Malden island at the time, publicly claimed to have found a cure for the H6Z6 disease. However, shortly after the claim, Matthew disappeared under mysterious circumstances. You tried anything you could to find him in the midst of post-apocalyptic anarchy, but all efforts failed so far. Moreover, for some reason no organization or agency would ever want anything to do with Matthew's case, so you eventually decided to take matters in your own hands.

What is new in DayZero Malden?
Though the mission concept has barely changed, DayZero Malden is unique. Zombies are now more dangerous, bandits are a common threat and nutrition has become a more important factor. But one of the most significant changes is the addition of story elements, including an end game scenario. Further new features and improvements include a very immersive atmosphere, spawn selection, an overhaul of the loot tables, trader cities, a better building system and more balanced gameplay overall. Many issues known from previous versions of the scenario have been fixed too.

Known issues:
- Possible damage to save files depending on session length (resulting in performance drop/stuttering/crashes)
- Loot spawn may be slow at certain times, so the player may need to wait for loot to spawn when moving to a different area.
