Automatic Clutch

Description
This is a two-stage controller with reverse. Controller will detect either forward or reverse input (1 or -1) and adjust the gearboxes and clutch accordingly. Set your throttle to have a minimum of -1.

It has a built-in engine idler that sets the throttle of the engine to 7% (0.07) as long as it is receiving an "on" signal. As the throttle increases, it will disengage the clutch and shift through the gearboxes as needed. Turn off the ignition signal to turn off the engine.

If you change between forward and reverse too quickly, it will stall the engine. I haven't figured out how to solve that yet. All of the inputs and outputs are labelled for easy connecting.

I've updated this to include property sliders for setting the engine rps and throttle levels needed to shift. You may need to fine-tune the settings to your build.

how do you find it in game?>??

It should. I rarely use a single engine except for in automobiles and helicopters. I haven't looked at this in over 3 years, so a lot of it may be outdated.

does it work with 2 engines?

Nice one, thanks for the update :)

The minimum throttle level to engage the clutch had been set too high trying to overcome the power curve. I dropped it down to .11 so it won't rev nearly as high any more. I've also added sliders to the properties to make it easier to make tweaks to what a vessel needs.

Generally works okay. It revs really high with the clutch not engaged at low throttle, any idea why? I appreciate there's been some updates that have changed the behaviour of how everything works.

I see :)

This is my first build in a very long time, thought I might as well try an automatic version.

I need to redress this since the curves update. I've been struggling to figure out how to optimize gearboxes now. Definately need some documentation on them!
