HIP - Court Splendor and Autonomy (WIP)

Description
This mod adds the court splendor mechanic from EU4’s M&T mod, and many other features to improve depth and immersion.

New Mechanics

The mod introduces 4 main mechanics: Court Splendor, Autonomy, Bureaucracy, and Great Houses. There will also be many, many, new events.

Court Splendor
  • Court splendor tracks the prestige of your court in your capital. A majestic court will enhance your prestige, your diplomatic capabilities, and will attract talented men and merchants.
  • In contrast, having a shabby court will reduce diplomatic capabilities.
  • Every character that is a Duke or above will have their own court to manage.
  • Collecting artifacts and certain buildings can permanently increase court splendor baseline.
  • You must invest in your court regularly through decisions, as court splendor decays over time to a baseline
  • Keep raiders and invaders away from your capital! Or else your court splendor will decrease massively.
  • Muslims have unique pros and cons for having a luxurious court, to fit in with their decadence mechanics.
  • Rulers of all religions can become soft and hedonistic if you have a luxurious court.
  • 70% complete (playable)

Autonomy
  • All vassals that are Dukes or above have their own autonomy levels.
  • Autonomy is a function of relative court splendor (relative to the liege), relative levies, relative income, and distance from the capital of the liege.
  • This means that powerful and important vassals far from your capital will be hard to control.
  • After a certain level of autonomy, vassals will stop supplying levies unless you specifically ask them during a war. Whether or not they answer the call to arms depends on the circumstance and whether they like you.
  • Autonomous vassals also pay less tax.
  • Increasing crown authority will decrease vassal autonomy. However, the autonomous vassals are likely to fight you if you increase authority too much.
  • 90% complete (completely functional, might have bugs)

Bureaucracy
  • Court Splendor is expensive. Luckily, increasing your courts prestige and centralizing gives access to bureaucrats and other talented people.
  • Bureaucrats can help you increase income from your demesne, and reduce new province modifiers that are assigned to poorly governed provinces
  • Other minor titles will be unlocked that will increase prestige, piety, levies, or vassal taxes.
  • However, all councilors and bureaucrats might be assigned a 'corruption' trait that will make them more of a hindrance than a help
  • Having a high intrigue skill, or various traits and events, will help you decrease corruption. You can even assign an investigator to spy on certain men for corruption.
  • 0% complete

Great Houses
  • Since only rulers with large courts can attract bureaucrats, it is far better to have large vassals in your realm than counts. No longer is it preferable to keep your vassals weak!
  • As your vassals court splendor and prestige increase, they might become a 'Great House' within your realm.
  • Great Houses serve as their own permanent faction/bloodline that you must deal with carefully.
  • Great Houses will seek more lands, and positions of power within your realm.
  • Earn their loyalty and they will provide you with a lot of levies and tax
  • However, it will be difficult to balance the opposing interests of the various Great Houses in the late game.
  • 0% complete

Current Status

The mod is currently in ALPHA stage and is not balanced or finished. Since I do not play the game much, I require testers and friends to give feedback and/or iron out the bugs. The court splendor part of the mod is largely functional but some events need to be added. The autonomy part might have bugs, but is mostly working. The rest are still being worked on. You can currently use this mod for the first two features.

I'm not sure if I've made this clear but YOU CAN PLAY THIS MOD RIGHT NOW. It has bugs and not all features have been added. But it is playable.

FAQ

Where are my levies?
Vassals that are autonomous do not supply you with levies unless you ask them. Due to poor modding tools available, this debuff due to certain vassals is spread across all vassals – since it is impossible to edit the levies a specific vassal applies. However, what is really happening is that one specific vassal is not providing you levies.

These vassals need to be specifically asked for help during a war. Whether they help you or not depends on various factors, including whether or not you are losing, how loyal they are, whether you are on the defensive side, and how much they like you.

Will you release this for Vanilla?

IMO, people should be using HIP or CK2Plus at least. But yes, I will release a Vanilla version once this is 100% done.

Will this work with saved games?

NO! You will most likely have to START a new game for this to work properly!

After playing; CK2 still works, But the mod isnt. The mod's 4 main mechanics wont start, appear, or be in game, and no new events shows up.

TLDR: The mod is outdated and wont work. (Needs an actual mod update with the latest HIP.)

@TeleportBehindYou

Sorry. I did not see this.

Yes you are right, I think I might as well make sure all my CK2 mods work fine before quitting modding.
