Light Infantry

Description
VANILLA ONLY
This mod adds three new units and several tweaks to other units to create a new upgrade line of skirmishers/light infantry. These skirmishers are best used on larger maps with far-spaced cities, allowing armies to flank and maneauver out in the wilderness. Skirmishers also make excellent defenders, as they can use ranged attacks instead of costly melee assaults.

The light infantry line come with the ignore terrain promotion, and has a weak ranged attack of one range. Scouts, Archers, Crossbows, and Musketmen have been altered to fit into this light infantry role, and new sharpshooter and light infantry units have been created to extend the line through to the paratrooper. Line Infantry have been added as a conventional counterpart to the new musketman. Cavalry, Anti-tank guns, and Helicopter Gunships were also given ranged attacks.

Upgrade lines have been tweaked so that every unit upgrades into something:

Scout--Archer--Crossbow--Musketman--Sharpshooter--Light Infantry--Paratrooper
Warrior--Spearman--Pikeman--Line Infantry--Rifleman--Infantry--Mech. Infantry
Swordsmen--Longswordsmen--Line Infantry
Knight--Lancer--Cavalry
Trireme--Caravel--Frigate--Destroyer

Warriors and scouts now have 3 move points, making them more useful as explorers and raiders in the early game. Spears and Pikes are now stronger, making them viable offensive units. Lancers are much stronger, making them the trump card of the mid game. With the limited range and ranged damage of archers and crossbows, siege units and chariots are now relatively more powerful.

Works great with Redox' Amphibious Ship mod, and the PerfectWorld 3 map script.

I know a lot of people said it before, but I'd really love a BNW version of this. It just makes more sense than the games original line of upgrade.

can longswordsmen not upgrade to line infantry(longswordsmen have 21 strength while line infantry have 20)

love the mod but can you change the texturing for light infantry so they are not the same thing as regular infantry?

could you add melee attack also not mess with anything just add and change to make the light infantry otherwise its to ovepowered

Pretty cool. One suggestion: since the riflemen and musketmen had bayonets, which were often more lethal than the actual guns, could they have melee attacks too?
