Deutsche Bank Place (Sydney, Australia)

Description
126 Phillip Street, or Deutsche Bank Place, is the third tallest building in Sydney at 240m. When it was completed in 2005, it was the second tallest building in the world with under 40 floors. It's original size was cut down to ensure afternoon sun would reach the NSW parliament buildings, resulting in its famous 'goalposts' or 'stepladder' top, an oversized exoskeleton of girders.

This model has a number of cool details, among them:
- a partially modelled interior, to recreate the buildings massive glass atrium housing its elevators (elevators not included)
- animated revolving doors
- animated water pieces

This was a joy to make! Century Tower took me two months on and off but this was done in less than three weeks (I only work on these in my free time, keep in mind). I probably could have worked a bit more on the aircon situation on the roof, but you can dress it up yourself. The Assembly area also features cafes and seating in real life, which I didn't include. I stripped out the stairs and ramps that are around the real building and reworked it to sit comfortably on a flat surface.

This workshop item includes

Main building
14,978 tris - 703 LOD
2048x2048 D,A,S,I,N

Glass sub-mesh
790 tris
512x512 D,A,S,N

Fountain bubbles
1,980 tris
1024x512 D,A,S,N

Neon sign prop (asset editor only) (requires Additive Shader)
416 tris
1024x512 D

Revolving door prop (asset editor only)
88 tris
64x64 D,S

I tried to mess around with the pedestrian pathing in Advanced Building Editor so they would go through the revolving doors instead of just disappearing at the center of the assembly but it didn't seem to take.. I will mess around and try to fix it separately.

I won't include RICO stuff, it's a unique building!

it's 14k tris mostly because of the lettering and the enormous glass atrium with all the lifts. but trust me that it would have looked awful if I'd just made that whole bit opaque. awful. was nice to open up the blender file and revisit it, pretty good job imo.

great q - the walls inside actually reduce the tris - in the main tower (excl. the atrium) each 'square' of windows in the lattice is divided by four columns extended out from the glass. (why did I do that? besides looking better it gave me more freedom in how I set up the window texture). this is symmetrical and extends down. so a) I extend each column down as uninterrupted faces intersecting with the lattice, and b) I have the inner faces of each column shared with its opposite side! take the wide sides as an example - they have 28 columns per side. If I treated them separately as columns with 3 faces, that's 336 tris (28*6*2) to define those columns. By having them extend across, they're rectangular tubes with 4 faces, 224 (28*8). so we're not talking about a huge number of tris in the first place, but my method shave off about 112 tris vs. having a more clean, empty inside. :)

The asset looks great, but why did you include so many vertical walls inside? A lot of vertices and tris which feels unnecessary. It doesn't look like it has sub buildings, to use the towers separately which could be the reason behind some of the interior choices.

Hey mate, would you be able to DM me about freelance work? Up to $1000 per building

The neon prop has the additive shader, LOD is removed in the process and render distance is increased instead. There's nothing to be done about it, it's just a warning. :)
DBP main building still has a messed up LOD though, this is a good reminder to revisit it sometime this year.

Great work on these buildings, and fantastic attitude. Keep up the fantastic work.

Modding is labour and people deserve to be paid for the things they make, but personally I work full time and do this in my spare time for pleasure.
If anything I would rather charge directly for items over setting up shop on a whole different money-collection system. If I could charge say 10c for this tower it would have generated over $500 (over 6,000 total subs, making the very big assumption that price wouldn't affect who subbed - of course it would).
