Dark Brotherhood Mail (Standalone)

Description
HEAVY VERSION NOW AVAILABLE!
I made this purely out of overly-obsessive hatred of the standard Dark Brotherhood armor, so now it looks like the brotherhood is actually protected than wearing a swimsuit.
This is a standalone version of the ebony mail, only with the EXACT same stats as vanilla Dark Brotherhood armor, meaning it has the same enchantments, the same price, and the same armor rating, and can be improved with the same materials and perks. The colors are also the same scheme thanks to photoshop's ability to match colors from the mask - so it won't clash with the other pieces of armor.
One is found on the barrel next to the wardrobe with the Shrouded Robes in the Falkreath Sanctuary, while another is found on a table near the Night Mother in the Dawnstar Sanctuary.
Both male and female support, no DLC needed, non-replacer.
I also added it to Veezara's outfit set, but, like I said, the original armor is still there if that's what you prefer for NPCs/Followers.

-FAQ-
Q: Where's the heavy version?
A: Here; http://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=179423035
Heavy version not compatible with this one - pick one and end it.

Q: It's not letting me craft!
A: Firstly, check that you have filled the requirements listed above. Also, other crafting mods (especially ones that edit dark brotherhood, leather, or fill the crafting menu with loads of stuff) may override or push this one out of view. Otherwise, delete the mod and then redownload. If it still isn't working after all of those, send me a message and I'll try to debug with you.

Q: Are you going to make a new/full set (or extras like hoods, gloves, etc.)?
A: Probably not. If so, expect it to be in a different file, which I'd probably link to from this page. If you're worried about the custom fit perk, don't; it's set to register as Dark Brotherhood armor, so wearing it with the rest of the Shrouded armor set will count for the perk.

Q: How about fixing that equally awful Ancient Shrouded set?
A: I got you, fam: [http://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=181354374]. If you specifically want these models for it, it's a relatively quick thing to do in the CK (PM me if you need help), that I can no longer do because my computer can no longer run it.

Q: Are you going to credit the original creator?
A: I am the original creator. Made it from the Bethesda files, not from anyone else. Other people have had this idea, and others still will. This is not those mods. If you don't like it, don't download it and don't waste both of our time.

Q: Who wears the armor?
A: Only Veezara has it equipped by default because he and Astrid are the only ones with the default shrouded armor, and Astrid has a cinematic introduction. You can change this quickly just by using the equipitem console command after clicking on the desired NPC in the console. To find the correct item ID, you can search in the console with the help "brotherhood mail" command.

Q: Can you change ___random attribute___ ?
A: No. This armor is meant to just be a better looking Shrouded Armor. So it has the same stats, enchantments, tempering materials, and perks. You can make can make an unenchanted version after joining the Dark Brotherhood and unlocking the Arcane Blacksmith perk.

Q: Where is it?/Can't find it.
A: Pictures are in the slide show on this page. It's also craftable in case something happened to it. If it isn't in the crafting menu (under Misc), check to make sure you have the .esp turned on in the data files options and that you have the .bsa in you Skyrim Data folder. If you need help with the latter, just delete the mod's files in your Data folder and resubscribe.

Q: I can find the modded armor, but can't find the vanilla. I THOUGHT THIS WAS A SANDALONE?!?!!!
A: I set the paths specifically as a separate folder from the vanilla dbarmor textures/meshes files. If you can't find it, make sure you've installed this standalone, rather than the replacer, and double-check that your file paths are set correctly. If that doesn't work, try un- then re-instaling this mod, or make sure that you can see the vanilla armor by spawning it with the console. If you downloaded a retexture, that may be what's causing the problem, and you should refer to that mod.

Q: I don't have Skyrim on Steam.
A: go to the Nexus download; https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/38848/?

Q: I only have Skyrim Special Edition
A: download from nexus; https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/38848/? (or drag it from your standard Steam Skyrim folder after installing through that. I don't know if it'll work, but I don't see why it wouldn't unless SSE uses different named .esm files. Special Edition problems are not supported because I can't get the game to run.

Q: MY QUESTION ISN'T ON THIS LIST!!!!
A: PM me, I'm usually pretty quick to respond and help out, even if it's been a while since I played Skyrim.

Q: (any comment about the graphics quality)
A: Yeah, I know. If you're so graphically superior, why not send over some of your own screenshots of this armor? Helps everyone out, and I'll mention you around here somewhere. At least you know it'll work on Low graphics settings, which is a "maybe" for some of the other texture mods out there.

Damn I didn't expect a reply from an author!
Yeah I checked Miscellaneous multiple times, deleted the files and redownloaded the mod two times and nothing for some reason.
Anyway I loaded an earlier save and tried the heavy version.
Both variants immediately were available for crafting.
This mod might be old but this type of armor is what should've been in vanilla.

Thanks for the reply!!! (I couldn't figure out to send a PM).

@BadKarma did you check Miscellaneous, not Armor?
CaptainSparkl3z 25 Apr, 2023 @ 1:02pm
I tried downloading and testing this on my high level end game character.
I have Smithing maxed out (obviously) and completed the required quests way back.
I do have a lot of stuff added and I could only find the armor in the DB Sanctuary but not able to craft it.

It really didnt make any sense why the devs made a master assassin guild look like a bunch of fools in badly modeled swimsuits.

@amhughes.1987 - crafting is unlocked after completing "With Friends Like These..." and unlocking the perk "Arcane Blacksmith." It is simply referred to as "Shrouded Mail."

I really want this, but can't figure out how to craft it. I can add the enchanted version w/ console codes, but can't figure out the name of the non enchanted version. Any one got a name? Please?

@nekitamomejal - Skyrim Special Edition is not Skyrim. Installing standard Skyrim, and then launch from steam to install, then move the new files from your Skyrim Data folder to your SSE Data folder.
This is a mod for Skyrim, not Skyrim Special Edition, so I don't know if it'll work (if not, you should crash whenever you try to start it with the .esp enabled).
If it doesn't work, I don't know what I can do for you.

rylog9  [author] 21 Sep, 2017 @ 6:52pm
@nekitamomejal - it's in your Skyrim Data folder after installing
