Better Map Overviews

Description
Tactical map overviews with proper alignment, walls and boundaries, doorways, sneaky vegetation, cover, and out of bounds zones (for Push).

The main benefit of the mod is the fact that the image is actually aligned with player location, so if someone looks like they're on one side of a wall they are in fact on that side of the wall. Most maps have all the detail possible, from individual bushes to individual barrels.

If you find any errors (i.e. serious misalignments of walls/objects) feel free to comment the issue and I'll fix it. Aside from that, I am on the lookout for feedback regarding the aesthetics of the maps. I've tried to make them work with low opacity, but they might still need colour adjustments.

The only map I haven't really touched is Peak. It has the border, as well as out of bound zones, but I have no plans on doing elevation and bushes for it.

Map features
  • Walls and interior markings.
Walls are drawn where there are: walls that enclose a building, walls that cannot be (mostly) seen over, or walls that create one essentially a one way drop. This includes corrugated fences and tall wooden walls. Light ground shading indicates that the area within the walls is both covered by roof and accessible, while dark shading indicates the area within the walls is inaccessible.
  • Trees, bushes, reeds, and other vegetation that can be hidden in are marked on most maps.
On Panj, the two trees that can be climbed into are marked in red. It's not easy to get into them, but it's possible. In general I've only marked the vegetation that could be used for concealment, so if its a super tiny patch of grass or a tree with only the trunk to provide cover, then I haven't marked it.
  • Indication of above and below ground.
Green for above ground, red for below. Revolt and Tell also have blue to indicate their third level.
  • Indication of out-of-bounds for both teams on each objective.
The letter is on the side of the team that sees that boundary. Lines are usually colour coded to avoid confusion, but sometimes it isn't necessary to separate by colour.
  • Cover and objects.
Pretty much all things that can be used as cover, or jumped onto, are indicated on the map. Cars, barrels, concrete barriers, boxes of many varieties, stalls, concrete palettes, tables. Some maps haven't been done, such as Embassy and Market.
  • Rivers and bridges.
  • Ground depression.

Useful console commands
overview_alpha [value] // changes opacity of the overview, with 0 being completely transparent and 1 being opaque // anywhere from 0.3 to 0.8 allows vision of the map while still allowing you to see movement on screen overview_grid_overlay [value] // toggles the grid that's placed on top of the map image, 0 = off and 1 = on // I recommend turning it off, as no one uses it overview_bounds_alpha [value] // changes opacity of the areas shaded red for out of bounds // I use < 0.5 to reduce the obstruction it gives on-screen.

I really like the overview of maps like:
- Station
- District
- Siege

And the like. However regarding the thought of being more simple to look at, Embassy feels less clear to me. Would it be possible for you, to recreate Embassy the way you've done the maps I mentioned?

The bright colours on Embassy kinda overlap each other, making it difficult to see as clear as station and the like.

Thanks for the work, looking forward to your response.

Very nice. Only issue is that the push boundaries make the map look kind of messy, particularly when the game you're playing is not push

to me i it would make more sense to have clean versions of the maps since not everyone plays push

I don't have plans on maintaining multiple versions of this mod... I might do Ministry. And maybe even Peak, I don't know yet.
