Description
2 slot starter craft. $8.5k and 5k iron to build. Just enough to get you out of your drone with the first couple asteroids and cruising around your home sector. Not a reproduction of any canon Trek ships. Just an imagining of what a Trek ship like this might look like in Avorion.

Despite its resemblance to short range shuttlecraft, runabouts are small starships. The Liberty class is ~130m long with living space for 17 crew members. Take a look at the windows for a sense of scale. They're all 1m wide.

To get the best start on your game and make the most of the resources in your starting sector, mine only enough iron to build your first starter. Although your drone will make quick work of asteroids, its mining lasers are not efficient and its one little thruster isn't very fast.

A good starting vessel will shorten your early game by getting you between asteroids and stations faster and mining more materials with better lasers.

Locate the shipyard in the sector and ask it to construct a new starship. This is cheaper than founding a new ship from your drone and hiring crew. After shipyard construction is complete, select your new procedurally generated vessel and select Build from its orders.

From the build menu, select the runabout from your Saved Designs and apply it to the procedurally generated ship.

This ship is not recommended for combat or exploration. It does not generate enough power to effectively recharge its hyperspace core, doesn't have a lot of HP, and no integrity field coverage to protect its several tiny blocks.

Use the gate network to navigate between sectors and let the local alliance ships clear out any pirates or Xsotan. Perform some friendly "cleanup" activities by retrieving dropped loot and salvaging wrecks from the local encounters. Be on the lookout for very large claimable asteroids and sell them for starting capital. Mine up all the iron and titanium you can find and get yourself into a larger starship.

**BETA patch 0.21.2 update**
Updated the internals to include cargo space, which is now more important for mining and salvage. Added a bit more decoration to the hull and extra turret mounts.

**BETA patch 0.22.1 update**
Swapped out the nacelles for ones more reminiscent of the original series. The straight cylinders provide more internal space than the tapered ones I'd made before.

Added some extra detail, including all the little windows.
