Civilian Freighter Chrysalis

Chrysalis is one of the few aging Type-82 jump freighters still in active commercial servive. She is owned by Mathews Orbital Shipping Inc, one of hundreds of semi-legal shipping enterprises that dot the Frontier.

The ship does not fully support independent operations for extended periods and lacks a medical room and a refinery, however she features an assembler for minor underway repairs and a pressurized interior.

The Chrysalis herself is nearing her 50th jubilee soon and has had over a dozen owners over the course of her lifetime. She is marked under Providence jurisdiction for minor smuggling and Haven police reported the Chrysalis for drug trafficking, however neither of these offenses are logged under her current owner.

Despite her age, she is in excellent condition thanks to constant upkeep by the Mathew family's youngest daughter, Jamira Mathews, who is a very talented mechanic. She has made the Chrysalis her personal pet project, and she maintains it with great enthusiasm and devotion.

As required under United Planets regulations, the Chrysalis carries a "drogue parachute" system that allows the ship to perform a controlled crash-landing on an atmospheric world. While the ship is lost in the process, this procedure allows the crew to survive the landing and await rescue.

The Chrysalis is a one-day-build of mine that esentially was the answer to the question of "How good can you make a ship look using only two shades of grey and lighting?". She is not supposed to be super practical in a survival playthrough (unless you do trading or hauling), therefor she lacks certain facilities that would be needed for a full playthrough, such as a medical room and a refinery. Otherwise however, she is survival ready.
