GPS Autopilot Module

Description
Control Module for navigating to a target location.

Big Thanks to Tajin for working out all the math and logic. If you like this sort of stuff check out his creations. (I was initially planning on doing it myself but found that it would be easier to not reinvent the wheel)

The short quick instructions:

Download my demo Here to figure out how it works, hook everything up and away you go.

The Long Comprehensive instructions:

What you'll Need:
something to steer (i.e. a vehicle)
A GPS sensor
A Compass Sensor
Something to set the coordinates (i.e. a large keypad or something)
A push button to turn on and off the auto pilot (or you can wire it into the seat)
An optional, but recommended, indicator light and digital displays to see the status of the autopilot
and a GPS Autopilot Module (patent pending)

Setup:
--Check the Pictures for a diagram and reed the logic inputs and outputs for hints.--

You'll first need to wire the GPS sensor into the GPS x and y inputs as well as the compass sensor into the heading input.

Next you’ll need to wire your input device(s) into the X and Y coordinate inputs, usually this means you'll need to wire the a and b outputs from a large keyboard into the x and y coordinate inputs respectably.

Then you'll need to wire your steering from your seat or whatever your using to steer your vehicle into the steering input as well as the steering output into the steering for your vehicle.

This next step is optional but recommended to be able to view the status of the vehicle and that is wiring the distance to target and the bearing into two Digital Displays as well as the on status into an indicator light. (you can do the same with the off status but I usually don't)

If in advanced mode you should also wire in the electricity into all of your components.

The final step is to go into select mode and select the GPS control module and edit the setting to your preferences. The steering upper and lower threshold are the upper and lower bounds of where your steering setting needs to be in for the auto pilot to run, if it’s outside of those numbers it will turn autopilot off and just use the steering input like normal. the invert steering if for if when you turn the direction your vehicle is opposite than expected or if the Autopilot is freaking out and not going the right direction. the stop before distance to destination is the max distance from the destination before the autopilot shuts itself off to avoid hitting an island. (default = 0 which turns off auto disabling)

And you’re done! I know that was a lot but it’s mostly just idiot proofing to make sure everyone understands what to do.

Troubleshooting

if you’re having problems it's most likely that your steering is inverted which is an easy fix in the part settings by going into the selection tool, selecting the GPS Module and inverting the steering. any other questions please post blow.

Also Go check ot Tajin for more like this.

Happy navigating!
