The new survival update patched the method used to destroy items :(

We will see about the update, in first steps stone may be useful, but after you don't need it for Huge Mining.

The new survival elements in the next patch appear to give us the ablity to get base ores from stone and yet leave gravel as well. Might I suggest a destroy gravel (only) option as well
