Map Scrolls Overhaul

Description
Credit to the author of Map Scrolls Updated for making the original mod and giving me permission to modify it!

Note: this mod does NOT include or need any other mod. It is completely standalone. I highly recommend using complementary mods like Chewtoy's Mapworks and compilations that include it, but you do not need any.

Maps by default have annoying level restrictions and modifiers that don't mean much or make running them less fun while providing nothing in return. This ugly little mod aims to spice things up a little with the following changes:

· Like with the mod this is based on, the level range of all maps is 45-105 and there are many more and different affixes
· Positive player modifiers now also include Magic Find and Gold Find (the worse the modifier, the more rewarding it is)
· Monster and champion count increased significantly (approximately 50-100% additional monsters, and up to ~16 champions per floor!)
· Experience and fame gain in maps decreased to around vanilla rates to compensate for the mob density increase

Now running (most) maps is very much worth it! You'll get a lot more loot and gold if you can handle all the mobs. Be on the lookout for the rare 777% bonuses!

KNOWN ISSUES

Map item tooltips have horrifying modifier lists because the bonuses to MF/GF don't stack visually.
The experience and fame gain penalty appears twice in the modifier list (don't worry, they only apply once).
Some modifiers list MF/GF bonuses but appear as player debuffs or to monsters and therefore don't apply.

Unfortunately it seems engine limitations restrict positive player buffs to the modifiers that explicitly appear as buffs to the player. Values that are beneficial are specifically ignored, even within the same affix. These issues come from working around these limitations to the best of my abysmal ability, except the duplicated penalty to experience/fame gain, which I had to leave in because if I didn't force it as both a player buff and a player debuff on every map, the game would crash upon generating the map item. Yeah, I just don't know.

@JumpToDie

Sorry for the late answer. You do not need any mod with this and it doesn't include any mods (it's built on an older version of Map Scrolls Updated that didn't include anything else), it's completely standalone. I changed the description for clarification.

Also does it include all the mods that is included in Map scrolls updated?

@Whiffy happy holidays!

I decompiled and merged PrettyDamage, LurkerHUD, BAGMOD, Cheap Resurrection, Skill Unlock Tweaks, BlanksLandmarks, ExtraChunky into one mod to save space.
I'm also using TL2-E by Corley, TL1CP by Torchmodders and Enchanter Pack by Digi.
Overall nothing that changes mapworks scrolls/dungeons or their affixes.

Since reporting those bugs 3 days ago, I used your mod as normal and none of the issues happened again so I have no idea how to reproduce them or how common they might be.

Thanks all for the comments and happy holidays <3

@F430
That is indeed weird. In the 12-20 hours I spent playtesting the mod I never encountered anything similar and none of the few comments on the parent mod's page mention such issues. In any case, it's likely inherited from the parent mod as that's the one that defines all the affixes; I simply added MF/GF to the player buff ones and tweaked mob density. Are you running any other mods or compilations of mods?

@Yuki
Not really. I may increase the range upwards if anything, but no promises. Keep in mind mob density is increased by a lot so I don't know how viable it'd even be to run maps at lower levels.

@Butters
I have a hunch it's NOT compatible because it alters the map dungeons themselves to alter mob density and, if I'm not mistaken, Synergies messes with that too. But I don't use Synergies.
Butters 24 Dec, 2018 @ 12:06am
Anyone know if this mod work with Synergies?

>the level range of all maps is 45-105
do you have any plans to increase it further? I mean - there is obviously Abysm and few other "endless dungeons", but few "new character friendly" maps wont hurt anybody

nice

I gave this mod a go, it's definitely spammy with numbers and enemies, but that's fine with me and my loot hunger.

Couple weird things to report, though, I'll give as many details as I can remember:

I entered an ezro vault-themed map and most enemies died as soon as they entered render distance, including turrets, champions and pop-up mobs like skeletons in urns. Only ones that didn't die were enemies with affixes [noxious/swift/etc] and a few casters, but those that did die as soon as they were on screen seemed be to spawned with a DOT affix, and the dungeon also had a "1% health recovery" affix for monsters.

In a different map, I would die the second I spawned in. No enemies, no warnings, just killed at the entrance for no reason, same thing happened every time I tried to resurrect. I have no idea which affixes could have caused this because the "ur ded" screen was in the way and I couldn't screencap dungeon properties.
