Description

Finally, music for the soul for b19 and v1! Works using depreciated syntax on 1.1. Will not be updated for 1.1 see below in comments if you want to know why.

This humble mod adds three music joys to the game while training social or artistic.
1 -Humming is done in a private room. Even by a patient in his own bed.
2- Playing the piano while sitting next to the instrument.
3- Singing tunes on the karaoke machine. Needs power supply.

There are small XP gain in Artistic for humming and playing the piano while karaoke trains social. The xp gains are in line with similar items in the vanilla version (ex horseshoe, billiard). Also, the karaoke machine is attached to the "Tube Television" tech. Karaoke machine is unsuitable for an hospital.

The joy is of meditative (humming), social (piano) and passive (karaoke) types. I did not create a custom joy source as I felt it could create compatibility issues and was not needed.

In my mind this a very balanced addition to the game. This mod will make your recreation room more cozy and the "Tube Television" tech more desireable to unlock.

Currently works on beta 19 and on v1. I made a large playtest with many mods on v1 and did not face any issues. Should you have any issues, please post with steps to reproduce, and I ll look into it.

I am currently not actively on Steam and not playing much. But I still maintain for the community, ie for you guys!! I am coming on Steam every other week. Sorry if I am sometimes slow to update - I have a family, a job and I am coding pet projects on the weekend with a bit of gaming on top when I can...

Thanks! Enjoy!

Just to confirm, I was pretty upset last week when I understood how "miscommunicated" we have been by Ludeon studio. I also confirm -after checking with other modders- that the mood of a lot of us out there is not on the happy side about the way 1.1 was released and many of us now view Tynan as a greedy arrogant executive. It would take 1/2 a day to learn the new syntax for modding. Then more than half a day to recode this mod from zero to make it fully compliant to 1.1. Then a day to test compatibility with other mods and DLC (that I dont have and dont plan to buy) and debug. Time that I simply dont have during the current pandemic outbreak. The mod works as is in 1.1 with minor red text using depreciated syntax. Cheers

Update - the mod works as is in 1.1 but is using "depreciated" syntax so you get some harmless red warning when you load it. To make it compliant to the latest version of Rimworld. I need to COMPLETELY recode it from scratch. A BIG F*** YOU from Tynan Sylvester. Is really not cool as we were told that the code base would be stable. I dont enjoy putting a full weekend of my available free time to just recode for dumb syntax reason. I ll try to do it this week end but man I hate dumb tasks. FY Tynan Sylvester I will never mod another of your game and not buy your overexpensive products anymore.

@Ky6000 - I played about 1 month ago a long game till spaceship. It did work for me with lots of mods loaded. But I noticed that the using of the piano procced significantly less than before. Did not change any values vs earlier version of the mod. So I assume that something changed in vanilla and affects the piano behaviour in a weird way. I ll have a look.

Yep I'm playing with the hcsk modpack and I can't get pawns to play the piano, everything else works fine though.
