I think with textures edit the assault rifle would make for a unique Advent weapon.
And regarding breakthroughs, they won't benefit from them because they are treated as their own tier.
If you want, you can used Iridar's Weapon Skin Replacer to substitute a weapon appearance with this ones, here are the template's names:
- M21RG_Railgun for the rifle
- M21SP_Railgun for the sniper rifle.

Also they seem to be not getting benefits from the upgraded given by weapon breakthroughs.
