What's the difference between the A, B and C variants? I don't see anything in the image or description to tell them apart. Is it just the coloring?

You should definitely use this same presentation style for all of your workshop items. It makes your builds easily recognizable.

I loved reading through the Jane's Fighting Ships Books. I thought thats what it looked like when I saw your posts on Reddit. Truly amazing work and dedication.
