Rapid Fleet Prototyping Project

Description
This vessel was designed as part of my Rapid Fleet Prototyping project. For more information on this project, please see the description of the world file, found here: https://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1499175300

The Revenant is a broadside battlecruiser, making use of large rocket launcher arrays, and self-repairing hardpoints to control enemy turrets while blowing enemy vessels to pieces. To facilitate this even further, the Revenant is surprisingly maneuverable for its size, making use of hydrogen afterburners to quickly get into and out of combat.

As part of the Rapid Fleet Prototyping Project, the Revenant is a mid-sized warship, with a focus on firepower instead of defense. While it isn’t exactly cheap to build, it isn’t particularly expensive for its size, either. Due to its relatively weak armor (other than the two self-repairing hardpoints), it is somewhat niche however, and is best utilized as part of a larger fleet.

Mass: 4,077,178
Block Count: 2,512
PCU: 66,873
Acceleration (without afterburners): 7.4m/s² (13.5s to max)
Acceleration (with afterburners): 13.3m/s² (7.5s to max)

- Hydrogen afterburner system
- 20 bow rocket launchers
- Two sets of 18 rocket launchers, mounted port and starboard
- Total 17 dorsal and ventral-mounted gatling turrets
- Port and starboard-mounted self-repairing decoy system
- Two jump drives
- 16g of gravity shielding
- Full EDS package (Easy Docking System - see this documentation for details[docs.google.com])
- Pressurized cabin
- Contains four unused programmable blocks and seven unused timers for additional customization
- Designed using my Ship Configuration Conventions, as detailed in this documentation[docs.google.com]

EDS - The Easy Docking System

The EDS is a complete docking package. With just a few key components arranged correctly, docking becomes extremely easy and intuitive:
  • A docking projector, which displays a docking “target” hologram, which is positioned in-line with the ship’s connector.
  • A docking camera near the vessel’s main connector, which the docking projection is visible from.
  • A remote control, aligned with the docking camera, so ship control can be oriented with the camera, instead of with the cockpit.
  • (In nearly all cases), a set of two docking timers, for easy, safe, one-click docking and undocking.
How to use: Simply control the block labeled “Remote Docking”, view the docking camera by pressing hotkey 1, and enable the projector with hotkey 2. Position your vessel so the target hologram begins to pass into the center of the connector you wish to dock with, then slowly thrust towards the connector until you make contact. Once your connectors are aligned, press hotkey 3 to trigger the dock timer, which locks down the ship, disables thrusters, and disables all weapon systems. Ready to undock, or need to make another pass? Press hotkey 9 to reactivate the ship’s systems.

@Warlow
Thanks! I've been considering doing that since the new warfare update, but haven't had the time to play, unfortunately.

You have beautiful ships sir. I'd say i wish there were more but they perfectly fit their purposes. I'd love to see a refresh to keep them current!
