Description
This vessel was designed as part of my Rapid Fleet Prototyping project. For more information on this project, please see the description of the world file, found here: https://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1499175300

The Vampire is a very lightweight fighter, designed to be as cheap as possible, while still maintaining decent firepower and maneuverability. Aside from being a cheap throw-away combat vessel, it sports a set of narrow-spread gatling guns, making it an excellent turret sniper for its cost.

As part of the Rapid Fleet Prototyping Project, the Vampire was developed not only as a cheap, general combat vessel, but also as an excellent pirate hunter. With its arrangement of gatling guns and camera, it’s able to easily sit at a distance and take out turrets, before making a final approach to seize control of a vessel that can be ground down for easy resources.

For lurkers, it's easy enough to slap a landing gear onto the bottom gun and works fine there for use, just remember to turn off the gyro and thrusters or your ship will fight the inputs you make from the captured ship once you are controlling it. I also play on a server with the Defense Shields mod, the 4 light armor blocks under the cockpit make a great location for the shield controller and emitter blocks ;)

Thank you! I'm glad you've found these ships useful! Good catch on the gear... Personally, I use the Phantom for turret sniping, but you're right... This should have a better placed gear for tugging ships. I'll see what I can do to fix that sometime :)

Great collection. I started using these on a server just recently. Overall I love this and the design. I did have to add a landing gear, as this ship is an excellent turret sniper for cargo and pirate ships. However once you disable the turrets it's time to capture your prize and fly her back to home base. It's much easier to latch the Vampire on and turn off her gyros and thrusters and fly the prize back in one go. Thank you for publishing!
