This is a highly detailed replica of the B-29. Don't expect it to be the most efficient design in Space Engineers aspects.
Check the last section for the Me 262s that you can see in the screenshots!

I started working on this craft half a year ago, it is packed with detail and has a ton of features including working bombs, custom turrets and a fully animated landing gear system.

If you are interested in the russian reverse engineered version called the Tupolev Tu-4 go check it out, it has different markings and two FAB-9000 bombs

Also fully Vanilla
All seats in the plane besides the pilot seat are only optional, the entire plane is operated by just one player, everything else is automated

History

The B-29 was one of the, if not the largest aircraft used during World War II. It was exclusively used in the Pacific Theatre during the War, and participated in bombing raids on multiple islands in the Pacific war. The B-29 became the world's first and only nuclear capable bomber to deliver weapons during war time when on August 6th, 1945 the B-29 Enola Gay dropped the atomic bomb known as "Little Boy" on Hiroshima, Japan. Three days later, the B-29 Bockscar dropped the second atomic bomb "Fat Man" on Nagasaki, Japan.

During the Second World War, its only area of operations was the Pacific Theater specifically targeting the Japanese mainland. It also saw combat service in the Korean War a small group of loaned aircraft were evaluated by the R.A.F during the early 1950's as well. In British service they were known as the “Washington B Mk. 1”.

During World War 2, the B-29 completed over 20,000 sorties with an estimated 180,000 tons of bombs dropped, as well as two atomic bombs. A total of number of 3,970 were built and delivered to the USAAF. Perhaps the most famous “copy” of the war was the Tu-4. Although outwardly looking identical, this Soviet “B-29” was converted to metric making it unique. Other aircraft derived from the B-29 include the B-50, C-97, KC-97, 377 Stratocruiser, and NASA’s own Guppy cargo carriers.[1]

The B-29 post-war also helped in the scientific, research, and development fields. They would play a key role in hurricane hunting and storm chasing which allowed it to collect key information about storm patterns, and helped to improve and to develop new radar systems such as the “sun tracker”. It was also the aircraft that carried the supersonic test aircraft Bell X-1 into the air. The last American B-29 squadron was retired in the 1960’s. Today one called “Fifi”still flies at air show circuits. It is hoped another named “Doc” will soon join her.

Characteristics

Arsenal
  • 5 custom, fully AI controlled turrets working with Whiplash141s Turret AI Slaving Script (two dorsal, two ventral and one in the rear) with each 2 x 25x184mm Gatling Guns (10 x 12.7 mm M2 Browning machine guns)
Since the turrets are controlled by a designator turret there is no need for a second player as a gunner
  • 16 custom bombs, dropping in series thanks to Whiplash141s Block Release Sequencer (16 x 1000 lb AN-M65A1 bombs)

Systems
  • Fully working landing gear and gear doors
  • Animated Landing skid in the rear (just for optics, does not really fulfill its use)
  • Ignition and Shutdown of the Engines
  • Working bombsight for aiming thanks to Whiplash141s Free-fall Prediction Code (with a display next to the bombardier seat) and bombdoors
  • Artifical Horizon and Fancy Flight Information in the cockpit
  • Cruise Control and Hover Aligner for automatic flight

Miscellaneous
  • Historical Markings
  • To have the most realistic experience, it doesn't have any downwards thrusters and only a few thrusters per left and right side
  • Two crew compartments connected by a tunnel
  • Controlled by a remote control block to overcome the need for a cockpit block

Controls

TL;DR Watch the short instructional video I made

To control the plane, take a seat in one of the pilot seats, press K to open the control panel and take control of *#PILOT CONTROL* (Which is a group containing the remote control block of the plane)

+MichaelTheGamer Might genuinely be loading, you could have a slow drive and the Plane has a very high blockcount.
Or the alternative is Keen finally broke it in its entirety, since theyre already having a ball breaking 5 features of the plane every single update.

so it keeps saying blueprint is being loaded and it just wont load in

+MichaelTheGamer Can you describe the problem a bit more precisely?

I borrowed your B-29 for pictures of my J7W1 Shinden: https://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2223169182

I should probably post a general update!

Yes i know, this and that block has been added.
Yes i know, many features on this plane are broken.

Sadly i dont actively play this game anymore, so as much as you would love me to fix up this plane, I dont think im going to. Space Engineers just isnt fun for me anymore and putting all the effort into fixing this plane is not worth it in my opinion.

If you want to see more vehicles that I make, I have switched over to Stormworks, maybe youve heard of it.
Its a much better game to do what i have been trying to do in Space Engineers.

Now while i haven't uploaded anything yet, I plan on doing so once the weapons DLC releases for Stormworks, which should be sometime this year, so stay tuned :)

Thanks for all the support youve given me over the last couple years, this plane is still one of my greatest prides, even if it sadly doesnt work as intended anymore due to Keen breaking 5 different features every update (Thanks very much, Keen).
Mr.Deedz 12 Mar, 2020 @ 2:55pm
also the game came out with windowed blockes, so if you want to fix that, you can now!
Mr.Deedz 12 Mar, 2020 @ 2:53pm
nope, but the engine isn't working also the interior isn't the same.
LEGION  [author] 3 Mar, 2020 @ 4:11pm
Does it still work? I havent played for about a year i think and last time i checked, the newest update broke the landing gear system
