The Testoil is back and better than ever! It's multi-tech turret has been fixed and improved, it's weapons have been moved into more optimal positions, it's terrain capabilities have been drastically improved, it's armor has been thickened, it's shields have been bolstered, it's batteries have been compartmentalised, and it's speed has gotten faster. All the problems that the first Testoil had are now much less in severity or completely gone.

The Testoil is a multi-tech heavy battle tank meant to take heavy damage and dish out some of it's own. It's not all too fast and can't climb the steepest slopes, but it sure can leave a trail of destruction behind it (and save on the FPS). This beast has taken over a total of 70 hours between all versions to design, improve, experiment, combat test, record, and finally publish. It is one of my best-designed techs to date, second only to the Leoneis.

The Testoil's primary purpose was to reduce the amount of lag that a heavy combat vehicle would create by toning down on the classic "fit every single weapon wherever I can" design strategy and instead placing weapons in places where they can be the most effective. A prime example of this is the turret, which takes the power of two Hawkeye Battleship Mk.3 cannons and combines them with the power of a turret and an A.I. I have also experimented with the placement of the Hawkeye Repeater Rifles and put them in the best place possible along with many other weapons/blocks.

While the Testoil might have a small armament of weapons, it does have an incredible combat potential. It can take massive amounts of damage to it's shields and survive, it has health bubbles covering the entire craft, and even after your power is drained, thick layers of Hawkeye armor and compartmentalised battery storage keep the craft from completely combusting. Combine that fact with constant damage from two of the most powerful weapons in the game. The Testoil is a tough nut to crack, and strikes fear into any who see it coming.

Some features of the Testoil are:

-A multitech anti-vehicle turret with a machine gun, two Hawkeye DFA mortars, and two Hawkeye Battleship Mk. 3 cannons, and can be controlled by an A.I.

-An array of Hawkeye "tickler" rifles to destroy any fast-moving small targets that the main turret may not be able to hit.

-Anti-air missiles

-Compartmentalised battery storage and explosion walls (to keep batteries from chain reacting the entire tank)

-2-block thick armor, and in some spots 4 or 5

-Solar panels that can deploy upon anchoring the main Tank

The Testoil's weapons:

-16 Hawkeye Repeater "tickler" Rifles (6 embedded in armor)
-6 Hawkeye Railguns (4 forwards-facing, 2 side-facing)
-4 Hawkeye Monster Mortars
-3 Venture NEEDLE Lasers
-2 Hawkeye Battleship Mk.3 Cannons (on turret)
-2 Hawkeye Seeker Missiles (facing upwards)
-2 Hawkeye DFA Mortars (on turret)
-1 Hawkeye Cruise Missile
-1 Hawkeye Auto Cannon

INSTRUCTIONS/CONTROLS:

Turret:
1. Press X.
2. Enter the turret.
3. Press B if you are not centered (unless the main tech is on the side of a hill).
4. If turret ever gets stuck, press B.
Controls:
W= aim down (depress turret)
S = aim up (incline turret)
A and D = turn turret

Main tank:
1. Anchor tech.
2. Press X and release turret.
3. Set turret to "defend" mode. This will help the Turret A.I. to aim.
4. Once charged, de-anchor.
Artillery mode:
1. Get on top of a hill.
2. Anchor the main tank.
3. Take control of the turret.
4. Fire the turret to get an idea of where the shots will hit at that turret elevation.
5. Incline or depress the turret to aim at the target.
6. If the tech is too close or too far, move the Testoil onto the side of the hill parallel to the ridgeline. This will give you an increased/decreased angle. Repeat steps 4 and 5 until the target is destroyed.

WARNINGS:
-The Testoil is not the best at going up hills. It is reccomended to angle yourself perpendicular to the hill before climbing it. It helps if you hit the hill moving at full speed (including thrusters) and use the thrusters all the way up. You may lose speed if you attempt to turn while on the hill.
-The turret A.I. is unfortunately not that smart. As shown in the linked video, it will occasionally not rotate to turn at the enemy (even if you set it to guard mode). To fix this, switch to the turret and manually change target (done by using the middle mouse button) to a different enemy. Then switch back to the main tech.
-The turret's performance will decrease while on slopes. (both with A.I. and player control)
-The main tank will occasionally refuse to shoot the enemy once hit by an enemy shot. This can be temporarily fixed by setting the main tech to "guard" mode, but will happen again once the main tech is shot. This is sadly a bug that can only be fixed by the developers.

I hope you enjoy the Testoil, and may whoever dare oppose you beware!

Just so y'all know a Mk.3 is in the works. It looks possibly three times as cool, has many more weapons, the turret has 4 battleship cannons PLUS seeker missiles, and the thing is maybe four or five times as maneuverable.

no multitech is going to be co-friendly unless you're the host.

Is there any chance you could make a version that is Creative Co-op friendly? or is it normally Creative Co-op friendly?

oh you said gigatons :P
yep, she can take gigatons alright.
Mindlessmrawesome  [author] 7 Dec, 2018 @ 2:37pm
that's because it's no longer really that impressive that it can shrug off megatons, it's more impressive that it shrug off battleship mk3 cannons.

I notice a distictive lack of "taking volleys of gigatons"
