Operation Market Garden's main goal is to capture the key bridges on the lower river Rhine and allow the 30th Armoured Corps to cover 30 miles, cross the bridges and capture airfields near Dreelen. Of which supplies and reinforcements will be flown-in; this is for a final push towards the ports at Zuiderzee, the overall objective of the operation. However the failure to prioritize the capture of the Nijmegen bridge by the Commander of the 82nd Airborne, doomed the operation from the beginning.
