Getting New Palico Gadgets Guide V1.1
By Asperyules
Vigorwasp Spray isn't the only gadget that little devil of yours can use. There are 6 gadgets in total, each have amazing abilities and they all get better once your palico gains more experience with them !

List of Palico Gadgets
Vigorwasp Spray (Starting Gadget) - Heals the Master.
LV5 - Manual Call for Spray
LV10 - Vigorwasp Station on the ground can be used anytime you want

It's a useful healing tool, especially when you're low on materials and don't want to waste them on farming weak monsters.

Flashfly Cage - Palico summons a Flashfly, blinds the nearby monsters (those with a clear vision to the Flashfly) for a short period of time.
LV5 - Manual Summon + Palico sometimes uses Shock Trap
LV10 - Palico can use a free Shock Trap (skill with cooldown)

It's quite good when capturing monsters, saves you from wasting those precious traps in early game. Don't count on it in combats though, your Palico will randomly use it and it may or may not save you.

Shieldspire - Palico uses a shield to defend the master.
LV6 - Summon Palico to provoke a monster (taking aggro, monsters attack Palico and Palico tanks)
LV10 - Master can command the Palico to use a Shield Bash. Has a chance to stun and knockdown.

Useful until early high ranks. Ordering your Palico to tank for you is fun but most monsters will use random attacks on Palico and it'll be harder for you to hit them. High rank monsters usually have area attacks so it's still not safe to assume your Palico will take all the hits.

Coral Orchestra - Palico uses a miniature horn to grant random buffs to the master.
LV6 - Master can command the Palico to play Coral Cheerhorn, grants one random buff.
LV10 - Master can command the Palico to play Coral Cheerbongo, grants one random buff.

If you want more RNG in MHW, you might like this. The buffs are completely random, ranging from Divine Blessing(lowering the damage you take with a chance) to Earplugs. Depending on your luck, it might be extremely useful or worthless for your current situation. Most of the buffs are quite useful and you can use 2 buffs before attacking a monster at LV10 but again, you might get useless buffs too. If you have time (50 min quests), you can use it repeatedly and get the buffs you want before going into combat.

Plunderblade - Palico steals materials from monsters and more materials drop for the master.
LV6 - Manual command of steal with Plunderblade. Materials gained this way collected automatically.
LV10 - Manual command to use Palarang, drops materials on the ground.

I can't recommend this enough. You palico will automatically steal materials and you can use it manually twice at LV10 with a fairly low cooldown. I remember stealing 9 materials with this weapon, it makes farming incredibly easy. I've seen people stealing gems with this (around 1% chance but there IS a chance). Best usage for it is to go on a capture mission, spam it, when you get 5-6 materials capture the monster. Then spam it even more in the special arena. I've completed a very valuable set with this, only killing the monster twice.

Meowlotov Cocktail - Palico throws bombs at monsters,
LV10 - Palico uses rapid fire to throw lots of bombs to nearby monsters.

Don't underestimate the firepower of your Palico. With a right weapon, it can deal incredibly high amount of damage. I've seen a build with Palico Rally skill and Meowlotov Cocktail fully leveled, the palico could kill high rank monster solo in about 10-15 minutes. It's best used when you farmed everything and just doing optional missions or just going for the quest rewards. It's pure extra DPS.
Flashfly Cage
Ever wondered what those Palico looking doodles around the Ancient Forest are ?
Those belong to Grimalkyne's, a wilder version of Palicos.

How to get it:
1- Find doodles, inspect doodles, fill the doodle bar. You can then select the doodles with F and follow them or keep reading.
2- Go to an expedition on Ancient Forest, start on area 17 camp. If you haven't unlocked it yet, find a video on Youtube and put it on 2x.
3- Go west from the camp, you'll see a small creature. Follow the white Grimalkyne, hunter. Be careful, grab the vines and try not to fall down.
4- It'll take you to his camp, you'll get the Flashfly Cage.
Shieldspire
1- Go an expedition on Wildspare Wastes.
2- Collect doodles, fill bar, and press F to follow the trail or just go north of area 8 and jump down from a small hole.
3- Protectors will ask you to find their friends, they'll spawn randomly on map. Follow the green dots on your map to find them, you can see the dot on your screen when you get close enough.
4- Use your net to catch them, don't get too close or they may run away. Ghillie Mantle doesn't work, just equip your net, press e, walk towards the creature and use it when it turns orange.
5- Go back to Protectors, they'll give you Shieldspire.
Coral Orchestra
1- Go on an expedition on Coral Highlands.
2- Go to northeast of area 11, move from the camp in north and keep going north till you see an entrance to the east.
3- Troupers will give you a quest, you have to hunt 2 Tzitzi-Ya-Ku.
4- Go back to Troupers and get Coral Orchestra.
Plunderblade
1- Complete the assigned quest "Into the Bowels of the Vale", or you won't be able to access lower areas of the Rotten Vale.
2- Have some raw meat in your inventory.
3- Go to area 13, look for the researcher (green dot).
4- After you speak with him, go away for about 30 seconds.
5- An Odogaron will drag a corpse here, you don't have to fight him (don't even try).
6- Go back to researcher, you'll see a Plunderer on the way. It'll run away. Talk to the researcher.
7- Go to area 15, follow the Plunderer icon. It'll run off again. Leave some meat on wherever it was standing then back off to the cave to watch.
8- Plunderers will eat the meat, talk to them afterwards and they'll reward you with Plunderblade (probably the greatest gadget for farming).
Meowlotov Cocktail
1- Have every other Palico gadget.
2- Complete every Grimalkyne quest on low rank.
2- After you unlock Elder's Recess, find the Lynian Researcher in Astera. It'll give you a quest called "Gajalaka Linguistics" and ask you to find Gajalaka doodles. You can find the doodles by going high rank expeditions. Open your map, switch to small monsters with E, press C on a Gajalaka location. You'll find those doodles near Gajalakas.
3- You'll get "Gajalaka Linguistics 2" afterwards. In order to complete it, get your Ghillie Mantle and go to the Lynian Researcher in Elder's Recess. You must wait until the night to start your next quest.
4- Your objective is to go into the den of those little devils. Equip your Ghillie Mantle, stay away from the Gajalakkas and walk until the end of the cave to jump into their den. They'll be dancing so it should be easy to sneak past them, just be careful about the bomb throwing one. If you fail, you'll start from the beginning of the cave. Press space to enter sneak mode if you're having a hard time.
5- You'll get the Meowlotov Coctail once you meet the chief terro- I mean the chief Gajalakka.

I'm not sure if anyone has posted this but all you need for the plunderblade is to go on an expedition to the rotten vale, show up in the odogaron den while it's out and the plunderer is in and then it will run away and all you have to do is follow the flies and place the meat to greet the plunderers.

You need to bring your palico with you for Gajalaka Linguistics 2

if you meed the odragon before you talk to the researcher in the rotten veil you need to make the odragon drop the food then you will see the plunderblade and the quest can continue normally

That's the thing, he ISN'T there in area 8, he's at the long stretch at the back of camp 1 (that path you go through when first getting to the Recess and he's there no matter what I try. I have the Ghillie Mantle equipped always when going to the Recess anyways (trying to get that hidden achievement but damn bird won't spawn;~;). I've done literally everything all the guides for the gadgets tell you to, yet he won't move from that place behind camp 1 and I need to get the last gadget since when you get it it unlocks the Gajalaka shortcuts, which I need to get the last hidden food ingredient (the one from behind the camp where you have to go through the shortcut next to where Nergi goes to sleep)....

@tho_d go to Elder's Recess in expedition mode with a ghillie mantle. There is a lynian researcher just outside area 8. It's kinda hard to find the area 8, use some youtube tutorial and you'll get the GL2 quest there.

I need some help with Gajalaka Linguistics 2... I've done pretty much everything in the game except for that, got all gadgets maxed out, found all the doodles (Lynian researcher says there aren't any left in any of the maps when I find him during expenditions), have finished Gajalaka Linguistics (1), but I haven't gotten GL2. Tried talking to the researcher both at Astera and during expenditions (regardless of time or map, tried all), but nothing. Anyone knows whether there are extra steps or anything? Doesn't matter if I'm talking to him at dusk in Elder's Recess with Ghille equipped, GL2 just won't trigger and I can't see the Gajalakas at their base either, meaning I need to do something more but don't know what it is...

The plunder cat will run first, and scoutflies will lead you to where the plunder cat hides, follow what your palico says and you're done

Correction on Plunderblade, the researcher is on the top level or rotten vale, after you speak to her, go back to the bottom level and you will see the plunder cat, and triger the plunderblade quest.

Add in that with the Meowlotov Cocktail (and 3 levels of Gajalanka friendship) that the palico will place a bomb when it sees you placing bombs.

Can provide screenshots for proof.
