Description
Thankyou for checking out M.Y.T.U.R.D's!
I'm quite proud of them!

All the usual quality from SAVTec
  • 100% mod-free
  • No Rotors, no scripts. Build uses 8 Pistons - they're very well tested & generally really safe
  • No sweetcorn, peas or blood
  • Nice neat control panel - everything named & grouped
  • Ideal early-game exploration & mining truck for new planets
  • Perfect for new players. Just as useful for seasoned veterans

Plastering the workshop with M.Y.T.U.R.D's... AGAIN!
Another older build from my old workshop, back by request (and a bit of dumb luck that I managed to salvage the blueprint).
Previously named the T-660 Modular Utility Tractor but now updated to take advantage of the latest wheel settings & handling characteristics. I've also made a few tweaks to the look of the truck and improved the control panel to make it even easier to use.
If you've seen this truck before - yep, that was me. I is inimitabubble!

Many thanks to Smokki for the request to bring this one back. I hope you'll like the upgrades!

A closer look at M.Y.T.U.R.D's
M.Y.T.U.R.D's are yellow. Yes, I'm aware that's prbably not healthy but I like them that way.
Stay with me here...

As if it wasn't obvious enough, M.Y.T.U.R.D's are Modular Yellow Trucks for Utility Recovery & Deployment.... they're essentially light tractors, capable of carrying all sorts of useful pieces of gear.

What sort of gear you might ask.
Well to get you started, M.Y.T.U.R.D's come pre-equipped with C.R.A.P, the Cargo & Recharging Auxilliary Pod - a light deployable field-module intended to serve as a mining support rig for a single engineer drilling by hand in remote areas.
You can dump C.R.A.P anywhere you like and leave it there forever - no-one will complain and a single engineer can live off it for weeks. With M.Y.T.U.R.D's however, you can return and collect your C.R.A.P at a later time - and even deploy a fresh C.R.A.P in its place.

M.Y.T.U.R.D's require very few resources to produce and can be created almost without effort. C.R.A.P's are even easier to push out - in fact you could probably manufacture 2 C.R.A.P's for each of M.Y.T.U.R.D's.

Working with M.Y.T.U.R.D's and C.R.A.P
M.Y.T.U.R.D's drive just like any truck - and after a few updgrades / updates & tweaks to settings they're more stable than ever.
To use them effectively you will at some point need to deploy a C.R.A.P. Don't worry though - C.R.A.P can be picked up as easily as it is dropped.

To drop a C.R.A.P...
...follow these simple destructions.. All can be done from within the cockpit (or by remote control via the control panel)
  • Park M.Y.T.U.R.D's on a relatively level piece of ground and hit the Handbrake (Hotkey 9)
  • Extend the C.R.A.P's outriggers (hotkey 2)
  • Lower the C.R.A.P's stabilisers (Hotkey 3)
  • Lock the C.R.A.P's landing gear to the ground (hotkey 4)
  • Turn off M.Y.T.U.R.D's Merge Blocks (hotkey 5)

M.Y.T.U.R.D will then fall to the ground & be free of the C.R.A.P. Don't worry, it wont be damaged by the fall - it's only a few centimetres.
You can now drive away with M.Y.T.U.R.D - possibly to pick up a fresh C.R.A.P from base.

To collect C.R.A.P after it's been deposited...
...the proceedure is mostly the exact reverse, with a few twists.
  • Park M.Y.T.U.R.D's underneath your C.R.A.P & hit the Handbrake (hotkey 9)
  • Engage the Merge Blocks (hotkey 5)
  • Raise the truck off the ground with the lifting jacks (hotkey 1)
M.Y.T.U.R.D's are now connected to your C.R.A.P.
  • Release the landing gear (hotkey 4)
  • Raise the stabilisers (hotkey 3)
  • Retract the outriggers (hotkey 2)...

And take your C.R.A.P away with you!

Additional features of C.R.A.P
C.R.A.P can be used in several ways.
Firstly it can be used as a mobile charging platform - both for M.Y.T.U.R.D's and for your engineer.
Second it's good for loading up with... cr@p... handy for mining by hand.

And third... once it's safely on the ground you can unlock the landing gear and retract the outriggers & stabilisers. With this done, lock the landing gear again and the C.R.A.P can now be connected to M.Y.T.U.R.D's connector.

My other trucks, the Little T.A.R.T and Scarab Mk2 can also connect to a C.R.A.P in the same way - or directly to M.Y.T.U.R.D's if you prefer, either while it has C.R.A.P on board or not. The connector heights are slightly different but they'll still lock just the same.

M.Y.T.U.R.D's of many uses
I have serveral more modules planned for M.Y.T.U.R.D's that are not C.R.A.P. I'll be pushing them out as & when they're ready but in the meantime, why not have a go at creating your own modules using my C.R.A.P as a template.
Some suggestions:
  • Weapon platform
  • Hydrogen Tank
  • Portable Reactor
  • Oxygen generator & tank
  • Refiniery or assembler (if you care to use certain modded small ship blocks)
  • Carrier for small atmo craft (such as my S.L.U.T.S)

Now go... paste M.Y.T.U.R.D's all over your world and leave a trail of C.R.A.P's behind...

Feedback
Comments / questions / suggestions / constructive criticism all very welcome.
I've even been known to do the odd request-build from time to time, so if you have an idea, drop me a line. If I like it I may build it.

I love the name.

Haha! Tell the truth now - it was you who invented the internet meme wasn't it!
Love your humour, man!

I guess you could just go around with the T.U.R.D poking slightly out of the hole until you found somewhere safe to deal with it... I mean probably no-one would know unless you told them. Just have to be careful that the thing doesn't get pinched off mid-flight or you'd end up leaving a trail of "breadcrumbs" behind!

Noo! I found a problem with T.U.R.D.: it's too long for the AC-810 Stratoliner

So I'm guessing you wont say no to a Hydrogen Engine version after tomorrow then?!
I may also upload the weapon pod I made for it ages ago... though that'd probably make a better april fools joke. The joke being that when you lock it to the truck the whole thing becomes... well... this...

Now that I know how to make GIF's I have the perfect way to showcase the thing too!

This has to be my favorite build from you. It's small but has detachable, customizable cargo like T.W.A.T., it got a good amount of speed, and have I mentioned that beautiful, curved hood?
cptsavarus  [author] 24 Feb, 2019 @ 4:24pm
Haha! You're pretty quick with these acronyms!
Thanks. Glad you like!
This one was born from a request by a guy who wanted something that looked like the American M39. I'm more of a cab-over man myself but was pretty pleased with how it came out.

Do they still Ship High In Transit (the original S.H.I.T.)? BTW I like you well rounded you made it (conceptually and I mean Look at that hood! Dat's a nice hood.)

Thanks @Mining15. Glad you enjoyed it!
Check out the rest of my workshop for more descriptions like this. If it has a rude sounding name then the description will be full of gags. Never know what hilarious tidbits you might find!
