The Hosho class carrier is the smallest HDY carrier and designed to fulfill escort and light combat duties. Developed as a rapid response to the dwindling numbers of the Republic’s carrier force, the Hoshocan field five Rifter light fighters at maximum capacity. These small craft are sufficient for light offensive and defensive assignments but they struggle against dedicated aerospace superiority fighters. Similarly, they lose out when compared to other HDY fighters or bombers against capital ships.

Development of the Hosho was unusually quick, a tribute to the simple and crude design that reuses many existing elements from other ships. However, the ship lacks many important systems such as a refinery or proper defensive weapons and therefor is only suited to short duration deployments as part of a smaller force.

Although all my builds feature full conveyor connections and all or most necessities for a successful survival experience, I recommend against their use in survival playthroughs. This is because the ships are designed to fill a certain role in a fleet, and might need other ships as support. Hydrogen thrusters could aslo prove to have a cripplingly high ressource consumption. Conveyoring is installed more for balance reasons than anything else.
