This is a good tactic. I tried it with RBL,Italy and Milan and it worked very well in my opinion. I want to say it, I'm not a pro and I don't think I am, I just try to help new player to this game.
With (Italy 2016-2022 without partecipate at the WC 2018) i won : Euro 2020, UEFA Nations League, Confederations Cup, WC 2022.
With Milan i won (In one year 2017-2018) : Serie A, Coppa Italia,EURO Cup,Supercoppa Ueropea,Supercoppa Italiana.(With some important transfer: Milinkovic,kluivert)

The role that can vary the most are the full-backs. I prefer them a defensive and an attacking one, but this depends on the team in use.
