I just tried using Notepad ++ and it didn't work. Then again all I did was change 1 letter, so is it that I have to rewrite everything?

Don't use MS word, it's not designed for these kind of things, try Notepad++ which is free

When I tried opening it in other text programs like microsoft word for example it showed my modified version instead of the original.

Honestly I have no idea why it does not work. If you are changing the right things then it should work, although the text for this is in sql format so I don't know it that plays well with default notepad. Have you tried this with other xml "text" files and doe they work?

The one lead by Ange referred to as Principal team.

which nation did you try this with?
twsworld 18 Jul, 2021 @ 4:17pm
I tried that but nothing changed. (And yes I made sure that I changed the right nation)

What Chiisai said. Manually editing text just requires you to find the file where all text would be stored, finding where the leader's name is (what will show up ingame and Civilopedia), and changing just that. So long as the TXT_KEYs aren't altered, the game will think nothing is amiss and accept the changed name. Same goes for editing all ingame text.

You need to edit all instances of "text" fields that you want to change in the pripriTexts.sql file and other civ's text files if you want to change what they say in game. You don't have to change the TXT_KEY name, just the stuff associated with the TXT_KEYs. But yes, if you want to change a lot of text, that's a lot of work.
