Description
Welcome to SAVTec!
Today I have another slightly older design for you that's been on the workshop before. Painstakingly re-buit from a sketchy memory & a handful of screenshots, I bring you the MT8 series - model 42 Medium Transport.

All the usual quality from SAVTec
  • 100% mod-free
  • No Pistons, no Rotors, no Scripts
  • Standardised docking rings in 2 sizes - compatible with all my other builds!
  • Nice neat control panel - everything named & grouped
  • Running / Nav lights based on real-world maritime & aviation standards
  • Supports up to 18 seated players simultaneously

Introduction to the MT series
The MT range began life way back in 2013, not long after SE first launched. I've gone through dozens of models & hundreds of variants in the years since and yes, over time I'll be publishing them all (again) on the workshop.

The MT range are all unarmed Medium Transports designed with a singular purpose - to shift cargo. They vary in size & capacity but are all hardware-friendly enough to be useful & fun in survival games for all but the most potato-esque computer.

The MT8 - 42
The MT8 is unique in the range in that its hull was designed entirely from scratch rather than being based on previous MT models. It's also unique in that it's designed specifically to support large multiplayer teams.

In essence, the MT8-42 is a long-range support vessel for large mining operations - designed to carry cargo, tools, crew and an unspecified small payload of your choice to & from major excavation / construction sites.

She boasts a single Large Reactor core backed up by 4 Batteries & propelled by an extremely powerful thruster-pack that gives the ship fast, light & agile flight characteristics for her size, even when fully laden. For interplanetary flight she sports twin Jump Drives.
The MT8-42 is a space-only vessel with no atmospheric capability.

Cargo suite
The primary cargo suite is completely modular & capable of supporting up to 4 large containers or Hydrogen Tanks or any combination thereof. Swapping them out couldn't be easier - they're readily accessible from outside the ship and nothing will break apart when you remove them.

The integral cargo suite comprises no less than 7 Small Cargo Containers placed in the most useful locations.

All cargo containers & hydrogen tanks are connected to the ships conveyor system.

Multiplayer Crew
The MT8 - 42 supports a flight crew of up to 4 with 2 on the bridge and 2 in engineering.
Brdige crew have their own cryo bays on the bridge.
Additional passenger seating for 6 and cryo for a further 6 can be found in the midships section, bringing the total number of supported players at any one time to 18.

Life support is provided by multiple Oxygen generators & Tanks, so you have no excuse for running out of air on those long trips.

Configurable cargo hold
And finally, the 8 series also boasts a small, pressurised walk-through cargo bay with a standard large SAVTec docking ring that's compatible with many of my larger builds, including certain of the EMGC ships.
The cargo bay is left empty for you to fit as you choose - perhaps you'll want to carry a small shuttle or fighter - or maybe you'll add an extra cargo container or more passenger seating.

Feedback
Comments / questions / suggestions / constructive criticism all very welcome.
I've even been known to do the odd request-build from time to time, so if you have an idea, drop me a line. If I like it I may build it.

If you like this build & want to see more, please check out my workshop pages

I had a feeling it was a bug in the game...yeah when I see your report I'll comment on it.

Thanks Zaithia! Yeah this one is one of my favourites. Always liked how the hull turned out.
The bug appears to be affecting everything right now, so I don't think it's baked into the blueprint.
I first saw it yesterday. Every build I pasted in to work on had had its ownership reset to "no-one".
Gonna guess this was something introduced with the last hotfix.
Thanks for the report though - I don't think there's anything I can do to fix it proper, as the bug seems to be to do with global settings but I'll look into it all the same.
Meantime I would suggest reporting it on the KSH feedback site. I'll be dropping in a report also but the more they get the higher it'll get prioritised for a fix.

Just noticed a bug, when it spawns in there is no ownership. Only bug. Love this ship though..useful. Especially the cargo containers.

@Galactic Banana...
Thankyou! It's always encouraging to hear when people enjoy my builds!
I tend to avoid posting screenies of interiors, as mine are usually quite compact - it can be difficult to find an angle that describes anything worth describing if you catch my meaning. Normally they just turn out looking like pictures of nothing in particular.

I'm not one to turn down a good request though, so I will try.
Been thinking I'd like to cut some ships in half & do screenshots of the cross-sections - maybe there's some decent angles to be found that way...

Love your designs! If possible, could you post some pictures of the interior as well?

@Jack... thanks very much. Glad you like!

Unfortunately my Steam account was wiped almost clean & the hdd in question was totally irretreivable and has since been re-formatted. If there were anything recoverable left on it, recovering it would've been a job for the kind of people only governments can afford to pay.
But that's ok. I built it once, I can build it again.
A lot of what was lost is already mostly re-built. Just have to finish it off & re-publish it.

I appreciate your consideration though.
Rest easy I have a ton more stuff on the way - old and new.
You can't keep a good engineer down! :steamhappy:

I'll check if it's possible in 12hrs.

Nice ship :)

If you have lost all files locally. And have uploaded them to the workshop. You should be able to copy the steam workshop folders from %appdata%\roaming\space engineers\blueprints\workshop (I'm not sure where it's located on Mac). Find the folder with matching number of the workshop no, In the URL. And paste that folder into you local folder in the blueprints\local.

I havent tried doing this yet. This is currently theoretical. But if you have already tried and it makes another workshop page. Don't worry about it, you'll be able to access them locally agian anyway.
