Description
The ADtranz M4 services the Market-Frankford Line in Philadelphia, PA under SEPTA, and for the majority of its stretch, runs on an elevated track, with one portion sinking into a tunnel underground to dodge the dense office and historic/tourist districts of the city. I can't seem to find the request one user made, but I liked the idea to convert this elevated metro train into a monorail, due to its nature to ride directly over roads, and be hugged by buildings on either side.

No worries. I intend to make an actual metro and/or train version of this vehicle asset for those who either use the appropriate mods, or for those who just don't have the Mass Transit DLC. I only did this one first, because it seemed like a fun idea to create a mono-strosity.

VEHICLE STATS
-----------------------
Length: 4-cars
Polys: 709
Tris: 1426
Passenger Count: 160 (per car)

SPECIAL NOTE
----------------------
If you happen to be experiencing a strange, glazed look to the texture, please understand that I do not know how to remove that. For my gameplay experience, I seem to only get this with monorails, including the vanilla monorail asset. If anyone knows how to remove this effect, please let me know. Thank you!

Hi @djantir, could you create 3 car version of this, please?

This reminds me of the east coast / chicago style trains on the Wayne Industries - built, Gotham monorail in Nolan's Batman Begins film

@PHTN I've been noticing the same issue after subscribing to the asset myself. I've done a little bit of research on what could cause the LODs to bug out. I may have found the fix, so I'm working on importing that in a short while, if I have the right idea.

@Zaphod I'm glad you like the concept, and thank you! I'm pretty happy with the way the model came out. That is a shame Houston couldn't find the means to pull it off, though.

What a delightfully freaky mashup.

This looks like it could have been a real vehicle in some alternate history where monorails became a successful mode of urban transportation in the US. Houston tried to develop a monorail-based regional metro(a la MARTA, WMATA, etc) as late as the mid 1980s. Its such a shame that plan never came to fruition, it would have been a really fascinating system and more useful than the surface light rail network that was ultimately built 20 years later.

@landandskygirl Ahhhhh, okay. Yeah, I'll hit them up. Thank you!

Anyone who makes monorails needs to make a choice between having a night illumination texture with the "glazed" texture, or a "crisp" texture with no night illumination (save for the headlights).

REV0 and Ronyx69 struggled with this for a while but eventually settled on the crisp textures. It's up to you though which works best with your monorails. If you ask them (REV0 and Ronyx69) I'm sure they'll fill you in on how they got "crisp" textures for their monorails.

@j4lambert Yup! Got that in the description, too. ;) As I was doing a test run of the monorail, I had a few splitting off in different directions, and it felt like some variation could really help this. I would've uploaded it right away, but it's been a busy weekend for me, so far.

@VandelayOfficial Thanks! That's pleasing to hear/read!

@Agamemnicon Yeah, if the monorails could go underground, that would be like opening the floodgates of wonders, to me. I'm still really shaky with architecture, so it's going to take me a bit to figure out how to make it really look good. Then I have to learn how to edit the pedestrian paths. I'm not sure which mod(s) make that possible, and I'm really bummed out to see that you apparently can't do that without a mod. If I do succeed in making a proper station, I'm going to also make sure the noise level is decreased, since one of the main complaints about the monorail stations is that they're incredibly noisy for nearby homes.

@djantir Oh! well then you certainly did a good job making it look realistic then lol.
