Kiang's Gallia

Description
The beast Laguz are a peace-loving people... but we are never ones to shy away from a good fight!

With this mod, you can play as (and against!) the fictional Kingdom of Gallia as it appears in the video games Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance & Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn by Intelligent Systems. Among its features are, non-Vanilla unit models, unique dialogue lines, and support for Sukritact's Events and Decisions[forums.civfanatics.com] -- with it, Gallia gains access to the exclusive Lion unit, and may enact a decision to keep their Cat units revelvant into the mid-game.

NOTE: Enemy units will only take damage when beginning their turns in forest/jungle tiles that are controlled by Gallia.

Gallia is a very defensive civilization. If you're tired of getting stomped by spawning next to Attila or Monty or a bunch of barbarian camps, then Gallia may just be the civ for you! With your defenses all but assured, the extra early-game yields granted by Gallia's UA are perfect for securing an quick lead in any victory type.

@illusion: I played against Gallia twice before on Immortal difficulty (once as Reyson, and once as Kiang's Dheginsea) and didn't run into any problems. Gallia was strong in both games, but not game-breakingly so. As Reyson, Gallia destroyed Goldoa but didn't invade anyone else (overall, they were mid-high rank). As Goldoa, they attacked me, so I retaliated and crushed Zarzi with an army with musketmen, cannon and white dragons, advancing slowly over 30+ turns while maintaining a strong defensive line, and using 3 citadels to negate Gallia's UA. One of the toughest wars I ever fought. It was awesome!

@illusion: Sure, I think a nerf is in order. I'll push one out.

Would it be possible to nerf them? I used the Tellius map and IGE to make a recreation of all of the nations. However, Gallia was absurdly op. They completely destroyed Goldoa and the only thing stopping them from destroying all the other civs was geography and myself playing as Crimea. Their combat modifier is strong enough on its own, but the damage in forest tiles and food/production bonuses makes them absurd if you give them their accurate borders on the Tellius map. It got to the point that I just ended up deleting all their units and forcing them back to the start of the tech tree after the 3rd time they somehow managed to glitch through the tech modifiers causing all techs outside of the middleages for every other civ to take 400 turns each. I do not know what is going on with this civ's code, but it makes them so op that other ai nations are helpless against them. Even Begnion which I spawned with over 10 times their army size was getting destroyed by a couple tiger units.

@Deathzbo:

Click the "Direct Download Here" link, then once you've downloaded the file, unzip it using 7zip or a similar file extractor. Then, you take the folder and you drag-and-drop it into your computer's mods folder for Civ V. It will be called "MODS" and is probably at this file location:

Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization V\MODS

Alternatively, just press "Subscribe" and Steam will download it for you. Sometimes Steam doesn't install the mod correctly though, so that's why the above method exists.

How does one download this mod?

@Blaze: The AI personalities for my leaders are written in SQL rather than in XML. So you'd have to look in the SQL files.
Blaze 3 Apr, 2019 @ 4:29pm
So, I got curious and have been looking through a few different civ mods to peek at the AI Leaders' personalities, but I can't find those files in the mod for this, or several other mods of yours that I've peeked at. Does he not have an AI personality, or is this file somehow hidden in a way other mods don't use?

@EmperorQ: Nice work, I'm impressed! You know, we could really use someone like you over on the Discord. If you ever feel like chatting with some other like-minded Civ-playing FE-fans, please feel free to stop by and say hi!

I had thought that I already fixed the bug and that I had already set CannotBeChosen to 1 for the promotions, so I checked everything on my computer again, and sure enough, all the bug fixes were there. Only problem was, I (somehow, embarrassingly) forgot to upload the new patch to Steam! :P So, yeah, I'm fixing the diplomacy lines -- nice catch, I totally missed those -- and then I'll send out the update with all the fixes, like I should have weeks ago. Thanks again for your report!

Okay, I see what the problem is. You gave Gallia a dummy building that grants it the free promotion PROMOTION_KIANG_GALLIA_UA, but there are no restrictions on other civs getting the promotion (not for free).

Easy fix. I added CannotBeChosen = 1 into its UnitPromotions entry. That should do it.

I also added CannotBeChosen = 1 for the Cat, Tiger, and Lion promotions. Those don't seem to be causing problems, maybe because they don't have a UnitCombatType attached, but just in case.

Oh and I noticed while looking through your code: some of Caineghis's diplo lines seem to be Elincia's. Not game-breaking, but thought you should know.
