Description
Finally, a strong anvil for your mighty Empire hammers!

Pikemen are a 550-cost unit of State Troops armed with long pikes. They have Charge Defense Against All and very high melee defense for state troops (45!), but in return have a very poor charge bonus and Spearman-tier attack, making them best used as defensive anvils to hold the enemy in place instead of attacking forces. Like most of your favorite anvil units they synergize very well with Handgunners, cavalry, and other hammers. They have good anti-large too, making them quite useful against monsters and cavalry as always (though you should keep your Halberdiers around to deal with the biggest baddies, since pikes are like spears in terms of AP).

This unit comes with a custom icon and is enabled for all Empire factions (including multiplayer, if you have a faction unlocker). Note that it is NOT present in the Southern Realms or Kislev rosters; this is to ensure compatibility with mods like Cataph's Southern Realms and others that introduce unique pikemen into their rosters. It is confirmed to have proper colors for various Empire provinces, and should theoretically work with Empire reskin mods given that it uses the halberdier model with a pike.

I should note that this is my first mod for TW: Warhammer, and so I'd appreciate it if any bugs encountered were reported. Credit goes to Sebidee for his fantastic unit creation template and guide to unit creation, which helped enormously in creating this.

@Warring Rose I don't know about you, but I'd much rather prefer a halberd for close quarters combat with an Orc than a sword and no shield. Just look at handgunners and crossbowmen, who fall apart like wet tissue paper when a dedicated melee unit engages them, as all they have to defend themselves is a short blade, not even a large shield like the Swordsmen.

i find this line on kv rule table : pike_attack_zone_depth , maybe increase it help spear/harbert fight better

@Warring Rose They don't in the tabletop game owing to the difficulty in pike-armed models (snaps constantly and they fall over easily), in lore it can be attributed to the heavy forest and superhuman enemies of the Empire necessitating a primary weapon usable at closer quarters.

@thaygiaomap2000 I could, but it only seems to trigger on fighting heroes; in all other respects no matter what the weapon length is only the first rank attacks.

Hi! Thanks for this mod, the units are very nice, but they do not seem to benefit from the "+x XP level for infantry recruits" bonus you get when having a captain with the "Exemplar" skill in the army and a Militiaman follower, and the +1 XP from the armory also doesn't seem to be applied. My current infantry gets 3 silver chevrons, Pikemen get 3 bronze chevrons when recruited.

can you creat some bow and guns units for Norsca and Chaos Warriors please ? 2 factions have many melee units mods , but no ranged units mod :-(
