Retro Trains Pack - West Coast Freight

Description
As featured in Springwood!

Remember when there were more than five big railroads?

Enjoy a variety of rail companies that hasn't been seen since they all ate each other up in the mid 1990s. This pack includes multiple custom freight trains from four different railroads, all based on ones operating on the West Coast in the 80s (and useable well into the mid 90s or early 2000s!), and is set up to feature automatic weathering, realistic nod and tilt levels, and more! These trains come in more realistic lengths than vanilla trains, so some visual glitches may occur at stations, but the more realistic length looks better everywhere else.

If you don't like the long trains, some of the trains (the Locals) are designed to fit into stations. Use AVO to prevent the longer ones from spawning.

What's included?
Custom locomotives (1024x textures, ~1700 tris)
Custom freight cars (512x textures per car, < 750 tris per car)
Custom sound effects - use Vehicle Effects for custom engine, bell, and horn sounds, as well as exhaust! Use Extra Vehicle Effects to get even more train sounds like flanges, brakes, and more!
Props for the retro cars (most cars from the Coast Range, Springwood Lines, ALTA, and TubeTrain, along with a couple others)

What's not included?
Props for the other freight cars, which are available in this pack.

Modern and East Coast inspired trains, which are available elsewhere on my Workshop page, or in my Train collection.

What liveries are there?
These trains use the following fantasy liveries (IRL equivalents in parentheses):
Alta (Freelanced Western Pacific sort of thing)
Arrowhead and Western (Union Pacific)
Coast Range (Southern Pacific)
Springwood Lines (Santa Fe, including SPSF Kodachrome)

Additionally, some cars from my other trains appear, featuring these liveries:
Arrowhead and Western (Union Pacific)
Cedar Valley Northern (Burlington Northern)
American Midwest Railway (Kansas City Southern)
Kendrick Aubrey Railroad (Canadian Pacific/Canadian National)
Skylines Service (Golden West Service)
TANX (GATX)
Pipecar (Procor)
and more!

Will you make a shorter version? This doesn't fit into my stations!
I have shorter versions available! Check out my Workshop Page or Train Collection

Why don't you do real life liveries? / Can you do *real life livery here* for me?
I just really prefer making up my own versions. It gives me some flexibility in the UV map, and also lets me have fun making up something new, something funny, something that pays tribute to a YouTube series that I like (or make), and it means that I can do a bit less research instead of having to find exact real life liveries of everything.

I didn't even realize these were vehicles since it lacked the tag, can't miss these anymore.

@IndyTransplant Are you using AVO to prevent the trains from spawning? If so, then I'm not sure what's going on there. I use AVO to "block" these trains from spawning on one of my maps and have not seen them at all.

Don't know if maybe you have another mod that's conflicting with AVO or not.

If you don't have AVO, though, then maybe give it a try, see if that keeps them from spawning...?

@CommanderHobo87 I'm having the opposite problem. I only wanted the props. I have all of the vehicles turned off, but long trains keep spawning. I even went around and deleted all existing trains on the map, but I watched one appear at one of my own stations, not just pull in.

@shive1964 in CS, go to Content Manager > Assets. Search for Retro, look for the train assets that are marked as "Vehicle", not "Prop". Make sure the "On / Off" box is filled in blue. If they're on, load up your city and then just wait (sometimes it takes a while for them to spawn).

While not required, the Advanced Vehicle Options mod does help verifying the asset it loaded. It's also handy if you don't want the vanilla trains to spawn in (you can disable them in AVO).

Late to the party (almost 2 years), I know, but figure'd I'd add this in case anyone else gets the vehicle effects parsing error message you got.

It turned out there were 2 extra "</Vehicles>" closing tags present in the VehicleEffectsDefinition XML about halfway down. There should only be one of those closing tags at the very bottom of the file.

<Steam install directory>\steamapps\Workshop\content\255710\1397356782\VehicleEffectsDefinition.xml, you can open it in Notepad and delete the extra tags.

CAUTION! Make sure you only delete the 2 extra "</Vehicles>" (plural) in the MIDDLE of the file, not the "</Vehicle>" (singular) tags that are scattered throughout nor the "</Vehicles>" at the very bottom as those are required.

Hope this helps.

Do I have to enable this somehow for it to show up in the game? I subscribed, but am still getting the vanilla trains.

@bsquicklehausen

This is your automated yearly reminder of the missing texture map on a certain boxcar ;)

TrailerRetroAltaMixed2 Prop You have Workshop item 1397356782 but it does not contain TrailerRetroAltaMixed2 Prop. Name probably changed by the asset author.

@bsquiklehausen

I have several of your train packs but this one throws an error upon loading.

Error while parsing vehicle effect definition file(s).
Assets will work but may have effects missing.
Contact the author of the asset(s).
List of errors:
1397356782 - 'VehicleEffectsDefinition' is expected
Line 316, position 12

Not sure whats wrong, again I have several of your train packs and have no issues with the others so something may be off here.
