Armour Colouration Shop (Outdated)

Description
Azazellz has made a new mod that achieves the same thing I was trying to do with this one, but updated and better. Should go give it a look. :)
https://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2495652142

This mod adds a shop to most towns that has the ability to colour your armour with various colour schemes. As well as selling several types of clothing and armour that can be coloured (including a few new coloured variants that don't exist in vanilla, with BPs for the new ones), and the ability to hire out their "professionals" to join your squad to take the colouring ability home. This mod is completely compatible with custom armours, as long as the mod author has added colour data to said armour.

In the shop they will have a selection from the colour schemes used in the vanilla game. Think of the colours the Shek use for their rags, or how the HN Inquisitors or UC Samurai have non-standard colours for their armour. The names will not usually be very helpful for deciphering what colours they actually are, so the "professionals" wear some prototype preview gear to show off their colour scheme.

You might notice shop advertising a custom colour scheme service, where they deliver a custom "professional" to your outpost for a fee. This is NOT available yet, as it is a more complicated and longer to make feature, and I didn't want to hold the mod's initial release for it.

Submod for disabling hivers and skeletons as slaves in the shop: https://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?edit=true&id=2278080834

holy cr4p. well, thank you for clarification, I would never have figured that out.
I mean, slave robes get coloured without that (coloured) in the name.
Miss Lead strikes again.

Thanks, this will maybe finally solve my issues :)

I meant specifically the item's name. My guess is you were using an item that could not be coloured.

Keep in mind that some items have non-colourable and colourable variants. For instance Armoured Rags, the ones just named that cannot be coloured, you have to get the ones with the (coloured) in their name.

And having (coloured) in its name does not mean it is already coloured, it means it is an item capable of being coloured (though not all colourable items will have that in their name).

pants, armour... dunno, just what I had on hand. Gi even.

Anyway, I just bought some pants from the trader and... them despite being already (colored) when I placed them on a cagey they did change colour.

What item were you trying to colour?
sir Evans 13 Feb, 2023 @ 8:22am
So I've tried that as well. I sold it to the Fabulous Fabian and closed trading inventory. Upon reopening my item was gone from traders menu. Could not buy it back.

But I have tried freshly crafted items of many types on cages professionals and it just does nothing. No matter if the mod is on top or at the bottom of loading order.

I just... I dunno what to say. Seriously, the idea is great, shops are nice, color variety is decent. But it just does not work for me xP

There is a whole wiki article on how this system works.
https://kenshi.fandom.com/wiki/Colour_Scheme

But in essence, you literally just equip the item to the character with the colour assigned. But, the item must be one that can be coloured, and it must not already be coloured. If it is coloured already, then you have to sell it and buy it back to clear the colour.

I've never managed to use this mod to color anything, despite playing with it for years. For shop mostly.

Still I have no clue how to use it.
I place pants that are colourable on an npc in cage. Nothing happens. I close its inventory and take it back, still the same colour.

I dunno, it's just... missing explanation in game for how to colour that stuff.

The (Outdated) is something I put on my mods when I'm no longer supporting them. It doesn't necessarily mean they don't work, just that I'm not actively making sure they still do.

As for Samurai Clothpants, there is no particular issue, they just don't have a colour map, so applying a colour does nothing to them. A modder would have to make one for them to be compatible.

Just wanted to say that this mod still work perfectly fine for me to this date, no signs of being outdated.
I also like it more than Azazellz's to be honest, it's just so convenient to recruit your own professional with the perfect colour/race combination and in the same spot where you can also find lots of coloured items blueprint, in most cities. I'd correct the title!

One question as I'm starting to tinker with the FCS myself, what's the problem in making coloured samurai clothpants, they don't"dye" well? They're one of the best light pants in the game it would be awesome to have a coloured version of them!

Nevermind, found it, but when it case time for shops t open, they just kept opening and closing the door repeatedly, and when I slipped in it considered it a crime and everyone in town started attacking me.
