Description
Stellaris version supported: v2.1.*

Hyperlane Randomizer
Random hyperlanes can be created and destroyed during a game. The galaxy will experience continuous changes to the galactic terrain while the game progresses. How big the changes are is adjustable using policy settings. You'll receive a notification a year before that displays which hyperlane will be affected.

It's also possible to use console commands to manually destroy or create hyperlanes, though the effects will be random and you can't actually select locations or specific hyperlanes. These effects will be immediately.

When creating hyperlanes the priority systems will be those with none or one hyperlane connection. After that it will first connect systems that have activity in the form of a starbase, fleet or monster. When destroying it will avoid systems with activity as much as possible.

Settings
By default there's only 1 percent chance every month that a hyperlane is created and a 1 percent chance that a hyperlane is destroyed. You can increase this to maximum 100% each month. Creation and destruction of hyperlanes are seperated in two policies.

You can also disable creation and destruction through the polices.

Scenarios
Apart from the monthly effects by using the policy settings it's also possible to use the following console commands to manually manipulate the hyperlanes.

Creation
event hyperlane_randomizer.10
will create 1 hyperlane.

event hyperlane_randomizer.11
will create 10 hyperlanes.

event hyperlane_randomizer.12
will create 100 hyperlanes.

event hyperlane_randomizer.13
will create 1000 hyperlanes.

event hyperlane_randomizer.14
will create all hyperlanes.

Destruction
event hyperlane_randomizer.20
will destroy 1 hyperlane.

event hyperlane_randomizer.21
will destroy 10 hyperlanes.

event hyperlane_randomizer.22
will destroy 100 hyperlanes.

event hyperlane_randomizer.23
will destroy 1000 hyperlanes.

event hyperlane_randomizer.24
will destroy all hyperlanes. While this works as intended the game will display random hyperlanes while none exist (you can check this in system view). If even one hyperlane comes into existence the galaxy view will be corrected.

event hyperlane_randomizer.25
will destroy all hyperlanes at systems that have more than two hyperlanes. This might result in some circular hyperlanes but in general it's still possible to reach most of the galaxy. This event will try to avoid isolating systems.

event hyperlane_randomizer.26
will destroy all hyperlanes at systems that have more than two hyperlanes. This might result in some circular hyperlanes but in general it's still possible to reach a part of the galaxy.

event hyperlane_randomizer.27
will destroy all hyperlanes at systems that have more than one hyperlane. Most systems will only have one hyperlane and will be isolated from the rest of the galaxy.

Notifications
event hyperlane_randomizer.7
will toggle the notifications on and off. By default they are active.

Notes
  • Should be compatible with all other mods.
  • Works with existing savegames.
  • Only hyperlanes connecting to neighbouring systems will be affected.
  • When a new hyperlane is created it will take a day before it shows up in the galaxy view.
  • When all hyperlanes are destroyed the galaxy view will display phantom hyperlanes.
  • If this mod is removed it will have no impact on the hyperlanes created or destroyed previously.
  • Mainly created to gain experience with hyperlane manipulation for integration with Multiverse: Solar System Spawner.
  • Can destroy the galactic terrain if abused. I recommend experimenting before actually using this in your game.

I haven't got the latest DLCs yet, but this mod does work if you use the console commands.

For the curious - no, this does not work with 3.0.1. The policy options function fine, but the events never trigger, and the console commands don't appear to work either.

For those who still play Stellaris 2.1: I created a new AI mod which is based on Glavius's work, but my mod goes much deeper and have a lot of unique features, leading to much better AI.
You can check proof of this and read detailed description here:

It still works

Evolving Hyperlanes kind of does this? Unfortunately it doesn't do nearly as much as this mod, and it isn't as versital, but it is something while we wait for an update or someone who knows what they are doing to pick it up.

Update please! This looks cool!

could we get an update?

This looks like a very interesting mod, I only just discovered it. Unfortunately, as far as I can tell, this mod hasn't been updated in a while, which is a real shame, because I would've liked to try it out. judging by the comments, nobody knows for sure if this is compatible or not. Still, I would say that if you use this mod, make sure not to enable other mods that touch the galaxy at all.
