Vault (The Yellow Peril)

Description
After I finished up the cheese stick, my partner asked if I had plans to create the "Yellow Peril" as the color scheme of the cheese stick was based on that. Officially known (and certainly more PC) as the Vault, this sculpture was created in 1978 by Ron Robertson-Swann and placed originally in Melbourne's City Square. It was evidently controversial and newspapers began calling it the Yellow Peril. I believe it is near the Australian Centre for Contemporary Art in Southbank, but I honestly cannot recall having seen it. For scale, it is about 4.5 meters high.

Great to see the Vault represented, It was very controversial at the time and many people hated it but it smashed open Melbourne’s gate way to more experimental sculpture and architecture and pushed the city decades into the future.
..for this it was banished to a quieter corner of the city. Its monumental contribution to Melbourne’s art aesthetic will never be recognised, except maybe here:)

It's down on Grant St below the VCA and near he Malthouse Theatre. It's sort of just plopped there on a gravel pad near the Citilink vent tower.

I see it regularly but then I have a mate who lives nearby.

Nice model

This brings back memories, I can't believe you made it! As much as I hated it then I'm subscribing to it now (: Thanks

@NoirMoutton, Thanks. Won't be able to do anything sculpted, but if there is any modern art, you can always put down a request in the comments. Can't make any promises, but that'll help me know what people are interested in.

Great job, the more public art that appears on the workshop the better, all helps to create a ubique style for each city build
