REVENGE! challenge

Description
You're so sick and tired of being killed by that little prick and his friends over and over, it's time for revenge!

You don't care if everyone's supposed to stay in their rooms and wait for the next run, or if everyone will turn on you for breaking the rules, it'll be worth it, why should the bosses have all the fun?

The Revenge! challenge starts like a normal Isaac run, but once you've killed a non-boss enemy and cleared the room the game stops watching Isaac and focusses on a newly respawned monster.

As the monster your goal is to defeat the Isaac boss, you can pick up items just like Isaac to help you on your way.

Once switched to a monster you will lose any items and pickups Isaac had and your health will change to match the max health of the monster, the difficulty of your run will depend on whatever enemy type you became.

Since plenty of enemies have no ranged attacks you will be immune to contact damage so you can actually do damage, hopefully you'll find a good familiar or other weapon type or something along the run.

Whether the monster has a natural ranged attack or not, if you collect a new weapon type like brimstone or tech you'll gain that weapon, you should also be able to fly if the monster is a flying type.
(if you dont get weapon type/flying try quit and continue)

What kind of monster will you become? a fatty with monstros lung? a pooter with trisagion? perhaps a brimstone shooting dip? have fun!

cool idea, unfortunately is very rng based, you need to hope you get a room with a strong enemy when starting

Sounds like a great idea! Isn't it by chance that it also works for Repentance or do you have to wait for dedicated updates?

It does indeed function, although shots fired by the monster controlled by the player are inexplicably white and when playing as a horf, it is impossible to fire unless there is an enemy lined up with you, making it impossible to shoot fires. This latter point may be intentional, but I am mentioning it in case it is not.

should work now

Is there a chance this could be updated for Repentance? It's a super cool concept, but it's not working at all right now :(

This is such a cool challenge. I love stuff where you play as the monsters in games!

can you make a version of this where you play as a BOSS? (Just suggestion)

thanks for pointing that out, forgot that flying enemies still take damage from spikes, should be fixed now

Think I might've found a bug. As a Pooter, I can fly over pits, rocks, etc., but I still take damage when flying over spikes, even outside the sacrifice room. I tried giving myself various flight items, all to no avail. If you're still working on this mod, could you check it out?
