An alternate history scenario:

Since the 19thC, the Fort Laramie Treaty is upheld and the various Native American tribes have banded together in a loose confederacy. Relations with the USA and Canada are cool in order to avoid becoming a regional flashpoint by provoking one or the other to expand.

Henry Oscar One Bull is the Chief of the confederacy for a few more years and favours peace, which means cooperation with the settlers. With the influx of new ideologies support is splitting gradually amongst these new viewpoints, a new direction in politics is possible but at what cost?

The people of the great plain are a hardy folk with rich society and lands but little development so far for modern warfare.
Lakota nation is not weak however! Many experienced leaders, adventurers and heroes of the past years of guerrilla warfare head an experienced standing army with intimate knowledge of the terrain. With the nation's first ship on its way from Wilhelmshaven, a new era has started for its people on the international stage.

From the position of peace at the outset, Henry's reign will allow you the choice of how you might best guide and serve his people.
