North Philadelphia Station

North Philadelphia Station was not the biggest station in Philadelphia, nor was it any railroad's primary station. However, the premier train of Philadelphia's premier railroad, the Broadway Limited, only stopped here on its way from New York City to Chicago, since calling at 30th Street Station involved time-wasting reverse moves. This applied to all premier and ordinary Pennsylvania Railroad trains heading west towards Lancaster, Altoona, Pittsburgh, Youngstown, and Chicago from points north of Philadelphia except for a limited number of local trains on the Trenton Cut-off, which bypassed Philadelphia entirely.

Today, North Philadelphia is a shell of its former self. The headhouse is a dollar store, and the former subway entrance is a Pizza Hut. The grand arcade has been enclosed, and the taxi stands and sheltered ramp from the subway is now a parking lot. The dignified brickwork has been painted pink, for some reason. However, this model represents North Philadelphia Station at its prime -- a station ready to receive any and all trains, from the Broadway Limited to the late night Chestnut Hill West commuter train, and deliver their passengers safely and in shelter to the Broad Street subway. (once the MetroPed stations are updated for the latest MOM, at least)

Stats:
Tris: Just north of 50k. I don't think you'll find yourself using this station more than once, so deal with it. (think of it like you're placing two default carousels.)
Textures: 2 x (1024^2)_a_d_i_n_s, 512 x 256 _a_d_i_n_s, 512 x 256 _a_d_s, 512 x 256 _d
LODS: yes, custom, 500 tris or so total.


I kept the grade profile for this asset realistic, for better or for worse. (mostly for worse)

To use this asset, you will need all the mods listed at the right. The tracks will not function, or even appear, otherwise.

Place on flat terrain, and decorate as you feel appropriate, since the lot is some ugly ♥♥♥♥.

You may need to use networks to smooth the terrain in front of the station, since the entrance is slightly below grade level and the terrain doesn't conform as well as it should.

International trains will not spawn correctly on the curved platform -- I recommend placing two train stations at each border crossing, disconnecting the international network from your local network, and running scheduled trains to meet international trains at the pair of stations at the border.
