Helicopter Gunship

Description
The Helicopter Gunship Mod makes many changes:

Upgrades:
All archer mounted units (Arabian Camel archer, Chariot Archer, Egyptian War Chariot, Hunnic Horse Archer, Indian War Elephant, and the Mongolian Keshik) all upgrade to Lancers.
German Landsknecht and the Pikeman both upgrade to Musketmen.

Unit Changes:
Anti-Tank Gun-
Ranged Combat of 40 with a Range of 1. Receives Archer Promotions. Has a move of 3.

Helicopter Gunship-
Ranged Combat of 50 with a Range of 1. Receives Archer Promotions. Can attack twice. Requires Oil (instead of Aluminum)

Pikemen/Landsknechts become obsolete with Gunpowder.

New Unit:
Advanced Helicopter Gunship
Tech prereq- Mobile Tactics
Combat-60
Ranged Combat-70
Cost (base)-425
Move-7
Range-2
Receives Archer Promotions.
Has the same promotions as the Helicopter Gunship but also now includes a second attack, cant captures cities, and has a city attack penalty.

I made this mod primarily because I felt the Helicopter Gunship was an interesting idea, but poorly implemented in the current game. A melee unit that is vulnerable to aircraft, with no terrain defensive bonuses, it seemed to me like a weaker Modern Tank taking up precious Aluminum resources. I also didn't like previous era ranged units being promoted to melee units (Horse Archer to Knights, making any ranged Promotion Useless? No thank you.)

The main concept of these changes (and the new unit) is a "Submarine on land" (without the invisibility). Both Helicopters are hunters on land, with the ability to move in and out of range and strike.

I could change chariot archers to do that in this, but at the moment I am playing Civ VI. I may get around to it at some point.

So chariot archers still wasze their promotions? Could you upgrade them to a ranged class like crossbows?

That is a good point, however, I did it this way so that those early units that end up being lancers can (possibly) pick up a few of the desirable melee promotions. I unfortuneatly cant just set those units to upgrade to something else, it is a class that upgrades to another class of units.

first off great mod.. fixes alot of issues that i had with some of the unit lines.. but just 1 request make it so that the ottoman poland and sweden lancer replacers upgrade to landships please? that way you dont waist thier melee promos when they upgrade either thanks ^^

Yup, they can enter sea tiles but not ocean

Iirc the standard gunships can cross coast tiles like they would any other tile as long as you don't research optics and give it the embarkment pormotion. Might be worth looking into for naval helis

Sure does. There should be 0 problems with it in BNW. The only thing that MIGHT happen is if you have another mod that has the same class etc as this one.
