[Fighter Blueprint] Terran (ATF) Thor M3 [X3]

The ATF Thor packs a punch. Armed with eight forward Electro-Magnetic Plasma Cannons and two more on rear-facing turret mounts, the Thor packs all of the firepower of the Mjolnir M4 while also carrying an effective defense against the missiles that many M3 heavy fighters are known to have trouble against. It is also quite maneuverable and well-shielded, and with the ability to carry both Poltergeist and Spectre missiles, it is a serious match for anything smaller than a corvette.

A fighter such as the Thor would easily be classified as an M3+, the most elite of heavy fighter designations, were it to belong to any other faction. However, the presence of the even more powerful ATF Fenrir has pushed the Thor into a combat role more befitting a standard M3. Though the Thor is not as well armed or shielded as the Fenrir, it is a bit faster and more maneuverable, allowing it to carve out a narrow but important niche in ATF fighter deployments.

This build of the ATF Thor is based on its appearance in X3:TC. It is exactly 200 blocks. The Thor and Fenrir are extremely similar in design - the main differences being that the Thor is wider, sports an additional engine on the center line, and lacks a few of the Fenrir's extra gun mounts. As I had already built the ATF Fenrir a while back, this was a pretty easy build, since most of the work on the cockpit and engine pods was already done. This is the last ATF fighter design - the next thing I'll be doing for them is the Tyr M2.

Screenshots (besides the auto-generated preview image) show fighters at true scale - when you use this blueprint to produce fighters, that's the level of detail you can expect from the final product.

This ship is intended for use as a fighter blueprint, as it lacks the critical ship components necessary for player control.
