They opened it up and I instantly hurled; my eyes burning from equal parts heat and noxious fumes. Then they through me inside and slammed the cockpit shut before launching me into space via the magnetic rail. A voice came over the radio “dinner at 1600 hours if you work hard enough and don’t forget we can always push the button” …what was I to do? I looked around what would be my new home for two years… it had only three features: flight controls, a slot on the side where I could be fed like an animal, and a small tube leading to the void of space. Covered in rotting flesh and slime and wreaking of the smell of a hundred unwashed men I could barely make out the warning above the tube. Beware: your filth can freeze jamming the valve open so do not seal the tube completely lest ye rip your guts into space.

Punishment for pirates is a brutal affair and the Bilge rat is a prime example. The bilge rat is little more than a reactor with thrusters and sensors made from rubbish.

A tour aboard the Bilge rat is an ordeal best never endured as it has remote locking cockpit that cannot be opened from the inside, remote self-destruct, a searing reactor, and a barely their life support system that can do nothing for the smell. In fact, the laughably ineffective coolant system was so bad that at first it cooked their pilots. The solution, simply remove it expose the reactor to space. Now the heat sinks constantly glow when the reactor is active and the pilots’ food is laced with iodine to reduce radiation sickness.

Hellish conditions aside, its four articulating engines mounted on hull extinctions, large sensor dish, and very high-power output make it an excellent salvager and miner.
