Sometimes a man will approach you with a tire iron, threatening to kill you for your shoes and whatever chems you might have on you.

Sometimes multiple men will approach you with tire irons, threatening to kill you for your shoes and whatever chems you might have on you.

And sometimes multiple assassins will approach you with throwing spears, proclaiming "The Caesar has marked you for death, and the Legion obeys!"

And ideally you'd tell them that anyone attempting to mug someone weilding a 200 round, 5.56, light machine gun that fires over a bajillion rounds-per-minute is making a very poor life decision. Of course it's not like they would be able to hear you say that, as any sane wastelander would have immediately began opening fire upon anything with a bad attitude that resembles a walking bag of bottlecaps and loot, obviously.
